Central Ohio Wireless Telephone Provider Discussion

WyoBuckeye

All-American
Like so many in central Ohio, I have had Verizon Wireless for what seems like forever. Their coverage is great and it seems like almost everybody I know uses them too, so you really have a lot of people you can use unlimited mobile-to-mobile minutes with. However, my contract is up in March and I was looking around at other options including some that offer considerable savings over Verizon (Revol, Virgin Mobile, etc.). What experience do you all have with other central Ohio service providers?

I use T-Mobile.

For $70/mo for unlimited message/data/text, its a decent deal. Reception isn't always the greatest (I live well outside of CBus, so I still get G2 data rates).

Best thing with T-Mo is tethering services. They don't give you crap unlike other providers. There is no greater experience than hooking your laptop into your phone at an airport that charges $10 to use their Wi-Fi.

I suggest you switch to another provider.

It will be a horrible mistake and you will go back when your contract expires. But you will have learned a valuable lesson you can apply when a more important decision comes along in the future.

Verizon & AT&T are virtually identical in price. Verizon blows it out of the water, though both are more than enough.

Sprint is a little cheaper, but not as good of coverage as Verizon.

T-Mobile is the cheapest IIRC, both in price and service.

Verizon by far trumps all in terms of service and coverage. I've always had bad experiences with AT&T, and will never go back to them. Sprint may have horrible customer service, but they have really stepped it up in terms of coverage. I work with alot of people that have Sprint and none of them have problems with coverage. $70 for unlimited everything ($10 for 4G) with Sprint seems well worth it to me.

I've had Verizon for years and have never had a problem with him. I've had phones even break and they replace the phone with no cost to me. Verizon is alot more expensive, but worth it IMO. Also, you might want to get to into Verizon before they totally switch their payment structure to not be unlimited. From what i've heard, if you are on their current pay structure you can get "grandfathered" in to those payments and not switch to the new structure.
