CFBN 2005 Big Ten Schedules & Predictions

The Frank Solich-led Bobcats are NOT a cupcake for Northwestern! :tic:

Actually, the Mild Kitties have a pretty tough slate. They do get a break by having Michigan, Iowa and Wisconsin at home, but it's still not a fun schedule. They could easily come into Ohio Stadium with only a couple of wins. If they get upset by NIU (or OU :tongue2:), their season could go downhill fast. What a shame. :slappy:

Let's just thank our lucky stars that we don't have to deal with Wisconsin or Purdue this year. Wisky should be down this year, but they have been our daddy's for too long now. I'd much rather play texas at home than wisky anywhere.
i seriously doubt our guys feel "lucky" to not have wisky on the schedule. if we ever had a team that wanted another shot at the badgers, its this one.

LloydSev, i noticed that to lol.

im felling kinda nervous we might not go undefeated as i had hoped. our tougheset game will definately be osu.
I know its cliche but here's a hint ...

Defense wins championships.

With that defense Michigan will not only NOT go undefeated, there's a very good possiblility that UM loses 3 games this year (Mich St, Iowa and OSU are all losses ... book it, and the only saving grace against Notre Dame is that the game is at the Big House).

The best defense UM has had in the Lloyd Carr era was the 1997 team which (surprise) won a national title [114 points allowed, 208 pf/pa margin]. The next best defense was the 1996 team, which was also completely inept offensively [93 pf/pa margin]. The best point differential ever posted by a Lloyd Carr team was the 2003 team, which outscored opponents by 241 [though let's not forget that the 2003 defense was attrocious too, and Navarre bailed that team out with his 362 TD passes against Minnesota at the baggy dome].

Michigan set themselves back two years with their 3-4 experiment this season and the players have to now fill the voids from the departures of who? Shazor? Jackson? Curry? An already sub-par defense is going to get significantly worse.

Despite what all the "experts" say, the prospects don't look too good on offense either ... Baas and Edwards are leaving, and no matter how many times the press strokes the UM ego with talk of Henne and Hart, let's not forget that neither of them led the Big-10 in passing or rushing prior to the bowl games ... that distinction belonged to Basanez and Herron at Northwestern.

Heck, now that I think about it UM probably won't beat Northern Illinois in the opener either. NI lost three games last year, @Maryland by 3 [who they beat two years ago], @Iowa State by 7 [the Big XII north runner-up in an offensive game fit for PlayStation 2], and vs Toledo by 14 [in a game where NI's 1600 yard Soph RB didn't play].

UM's defense will be a speed bump to Garrett Wolf and AJ Harris in the opener, a pair of RBs who combined for 2300 yards last season.

What an awsome schedule. Only 4 road games and one of them is Indiana. We have a soft (revenge) game against NW before scUM. We duck Purdue and Wisky. I like it. There is even a chance we could loose to either Texas or Iowa and still 1 loss our way to a NC. I am glad we get PSU early. They have some young talent that might be scary at the end of the season. I wonder if SDSU is willing to have a permint away/away series scheduled with us:biggrin:

Feeling good,

SDSU is going to bite somebody eventually, hopefully just not us. After the way they played in the 'Shoe in 2003, then again proving it wasn't a fluke against UM at the Big House in 2004, the SDSU players aren't going to be satisified graduating without scoring a monumental upset. They're expecting to win these games, and that's very dangerous.
