CFN.com predicts scUM will be undefeated...

bkb:

You're right...Texas is always vastly overrated, and the only team that actually was in the top 10 every year in that era was Florida State.

Michigan also had a lot of 4-loss seasons in the 90's to back up your claim...unfortunately they beat us in most of those :sick1:

No doubt about that, Mililiani. Michigan has a stronger national fan base than Ohio State, among people that have no particular connection to either school. In that respect, they're kind of like ND-junior. A lot of people around the country sport Michigan jerseys, because they "like their helmets", or something like that. I think the Bucks have a lot fewer fans who aren't from the state or didn't go to the school, and that probably plays into Michigan's stronger nationwide recruiting, which as you point out, they absolutely have to have in order to keep up.

Michigan missing PSU actually hurts Michigan... PSU was once a powerful program, but not so much anymore. It's fun to joke about Michigan "ducking" a "traditional" power, but the reality is Michigan would beat the crap out of Penn State. For whatever reason, Wisky plays OSU tough, but Michigan usually smokes the Badgers.
scUM still has to play the hawkeyes, they have had scUM's number recently.

I was wrong, it was the Illini v NW that was that way

From the OZone

Upset Alert: vs. Illinois. The Illini are going to be much better than they were a year ago, possibly around five or six wins. This could easily serve as a sort of bowl play-in game, with the winner going bowling while the loser stays home. The Cats come in off a double-whammy on the road (trips to State College and Ann Arbor), while the Illini have a home date with Indiana and then a week of rest. Plus, this series is always competitive. It's 2-2 over the last four years, 4-4 over the last eight, 6-6 over the last 12, and 9-9 over the last 18, with both teams going exactly .500 at home.

I thought that Mich had the schedule to run the table, I was greatly hated by many but I felt they had an iside shot with a date on the third of jan, they had a very very favorable scheduling last year and the locations where the games were played.

Michigan Vs. Northwestern

We aren't that bad against Northwestern (9-9) like you said, but we have struggled against them more then Penn State or Wisconsin so I don't see why you think that missing both of them is such a blessing for us.

Michigan vs. The Big 10 (last 10 years)
Illinois: 8-1 (should have been 7-2)
Indiana: 7-0
Iowa: 4-2 (2 game losing streak)
Michigan State: 7-3 (Should be 8-2)
Minnesota: 8-0
Northwestern: 4-3
Ohio State: 6-4
Penn State: 6-3 (6 game winning streak)
Purdue: 6-2
Wisconsin: 6-1 (6 game winning streak)

I'd rather play PSU and Wisconsin this year. :)

I think that Minnesota is a team that is going to surprise a lot of people this year. They have the best running game in America in my opinion and the normal favorable schedule. Plus I think their defense is going to improve over what it has been the last few years. And I think that their coming out party is going to be at Scum I just have a feeling that they are going to pull the upset. But I also feel that they will choke somewhere else and lose one or two games.

If Scum doesn't lose to Minnesota I want them to be undefeated coming in to the game. Since I feel that we have good shot in my opinion to also be undefeated it would take the game to the next level if that is possible.

I refuse to give Minnesota consideration until they prove something. They have been predicted to do a lot better than they end up for the last five years or so, and they always disappoint. It seems they have been favored recently to finish in the top 3 of the Big 10, but it just hasn't happened. Once they prove it, we'll see, but I just don't buy into that.

FKA - I can understand your position on Minny. But, Mason has turned that program in to a consistent winner. And 10 - 3 last year was pretty good too... should really have been 11 - 2 but for falling apart against Meatchicken... Their running game and line is very very good. They had to play the K-State cupcake scheduling game to get on the plus side of the win loss column the last few years, but their schedule is becoming more respectable now. They won't ever displace Ohio State or Michigan, but they can put together a Wisconsinish run - think 1993 - 2001. I, for one, would like to see Minnesota go to the Rose this year - As long as Ohio State is in the Orange, that is.

Minnesota has a great deal of tradition, and not all of it bad. Indeed, if you take a ride in the way back machine, you'll see a day when Minnesota was THE national power. Before the Vikings Minnesota was a serious contender in the Big Ten and on the national scene. For some extreme domination stats, have a look at this three year run:

Granted it was a different game then, but those numbers always amaze me. And, no, I don't post these numbers in support of the contention that Minny will be good this year... that would be absurd.

Minnesota has one other problem. They NEED an on campus stadium and stop using the HHH. Furthermore, their on campus stadium should be without a roof. I can tell you, the worst thing the Vikings ever did was move inside. Going to the old Met (Metropolitan Stadium) was quite intimidating back in its day simply based on the weather factor alone. Think current day Green Bay.
