Game Thread CFP Semifinal: Ohio State vs. Clemson, Sat 12/31 @ 7p ET, ESPN

Problem is that you can't demote Warriner back to the line. That would mean firing Studwara unnecessarily. Besides, a demotion in the same school wouldn't sit well. I think there would always be that embarrassing factor that everyone knows he failed. So the choices are simple: keep him on as the OC/TE coach, or fire him.... really I think Beck is the first guy that needs to go. Question is wether or not Urban has a replace ready - recruiting & coaching doesn't stop after last night.

Why would it be firing Studwara unnecessarily? The line sucked all year. Don't give me that freshman bullshit.

It's not bullshit, it's factual. He was given one year with a bunch of freshman and first year starters. There's a reason Meyer is smart enough to evaluate for 2 seasons minimum. The O-Line is extremely difficult to season and improve. Its not like being a WR, RB, or DB where you can be good playing as an individual - the line is a different beast to coach.

Negative plays on first and second down is what I see killing this offense. It's false starts, sacks, -3 yard pass plays...it never fails, we are behind the sticks and it's been happening all year. I still feel like most of the blame falls on the play calling but you can't be successful from 3rd and long all night.

I was going to say we can't blame Beck for JT's regression because we only have one data point but that's not even true. Cardale had serious regression as well. Both looked amazing when Herman was the coach and the next season both were avg. Beck has literally cost cardale and JT millions of dollars, I feel awful for them

They failed to get two consecutive first downs IN THE ENTIRE GAME. it's 100% on the coaches.

Bullshit excuses. Get the fuck out of here with that shit.

"If you want to be average, I don't want to be around you." - Urban Meyer.

Other schools have young OL too. And if we have to start two true freshmen, then we failed in recruiting.

Gloves are off. Ban me if you must. This shit is unacceptable.

I don't think he did a terrible job but the [Mark May] show at left guard after Jordan went down left me wondering. In all fairness, Clemson odes have an elite D line.

I wonder if Meyer is going to scrap his two year commitment rule with regards to Coach Stud.
My only thoughts here are, it seemed that Studs did a good job with the LSU OLines he worked with. Obviously I was not watching LSU games like I do Buckeye games, but when I did watch them two or three times a year they seemed to have good Oline play.

No, no you're totally right. All the talk before the year started, during the year, and now about how young we were - all must be total bullshit.

Youth is a terrible excuse when you're 13 games in. Prince rated 179 out of 179 right tackles. That's not a youth problem. He was very highly rated as a recruit so why was he literally the worst right tackle in college football?

Jesus, we have the most reactionary/fire-happy fanbase - no offense.

"Fire Fickell, fire Tom Herman, fire Studwara, bench JT for Burrows..."

Give me a fucking break. If Urban actually thought the way our fans did we would have never won the 2014 NC. Tom Herman would have been gone after the Clemson 2013 loss (which is what the fans begged for). And guys like D Lee, Kwon, and Baker wouldn't have been the shining studs they are.

I agree that Becks time has ran out, and likely Eds too. But let's keep it at that. No need to replace the entire car when it's just the alternator.

Herman never had the type of shit games like PSU 2016, MSU 2015 and 2016, scUM 2016, Clemson 2016. In 2013, he had only two regular season games where the Bucks scored under 40 points (34 vs Iowa and 31 vs Wisconsin). In 2014, aside from the first two games getting JT's feet wet, the Bucks scored in the 60s once, in the 50s five times, and in the 40s five times. The worst games aside from the first two were 31-point games against the Pedsters and Minnesota.
