Game Thread CFP Semifinal: Ohio State vs. Clemson, Sat 12/31 @ 7p ET, ESPN

then you should have laughed, never read his stuff again and certainly not quoted it. Corey Smith does not have a prayer of being drafted. He has been an infrequent receiver at OSU. He barely produced when he was targeted a dozen or more times vs Virginia tech in 2014.
I do not disagree with that, but Clark is not very good. McLaurin is OK (and would be a steady #3/4 if Troy Smith '06 was the qb). brown is not the same post injury and Parris has yet to become a true wr. Brown is the only veteran that I see as an NFL guy but only in a different scheme

Now Victor and Hill? That's another story, let alone Grimes, Lindsey and whatever Mack becomes. There is a wealth of talent to build upon.
probably because you expressed it in that ridiculous fashion. Hint: most folks were deeply troubled by the unusually awful defense that year. I'm also trying to figure out when Shazier was an alleged whipping boy in 2013 similar to Roby (who had serious effort issues in that hideous system )

Claiming that doesn't change anything about this conversation.agreed with all of that, and I think this bad of a failure will force the necessary changes, especially with Kevin's availability
Did you see the Mock Draft I reposted and was referencing? It was Charlie Campbell and it was his 2018 mock draft. I know that is not the 2017 draft and things will change a ton between now and the 2018 draft but it still illustrates the point I am trying to make that we are not lacking in talent at the WR spot.

Especially when you compare it to the 2014 WR corp who was very efficient with the same albeit way younger QB. It was all of these same guys that are now two years older, plus D Smith and Spencer and a young Mike T. Smith and Spencer haven't exactly had stellar NFL careers. The 2015 corp that guys claimed were lacking are all having better careers than the 2014 guys.

If Withers had been fired at the end of 2012, i argue we would actually have another national title as we matched up well against Notre Dame.

Uhhh.......2012 was Urban's first year. The team went 12-0 but was ineligible for post season play. That's why under the the old division system(Leaders/Legends) the 3rd place team in the Leaders(Wisky) played in the CCG. PSU finished 2nd to the Bucks, but were ineligible also. Had the Bucks been allowed to play in the post season, I have no doubt that they would have beaten Nebby for the second time and won the Natty over ND. OSU would have gotten in the game over Bama, who had 1 or 2 losses that year.

To expound on this. That Clemson defense in 2013 (2014?) was just as aggressive and gave our offensive line fits in pass protection. Ohio State was still able to score 35 points and stay in the game despite a terrible start. Last night there were no answers to the bad start on offense.

I'm hoping that next year we see Victor and Hill promoted to the top 3 rotation, if not top 2. Maybe Brown will recover what people were raving about prior to 2015, but they'll need those two (and maybe some freshman) to step up to start challenging the aggressiveness of a Clemson or Bama. Otherwise, I'm concerned that even with better playcalling they'll struggle to move the ball much without Samuel.

I wouldn't mind seeing Brown put the weight back on and move to TE. He's already a great blocker and he would be a weapon at that spot if, and it's probably a big if, he could handle the blocking assignments at that position.

I never said anything bad about Herman. Read my post again, I said that fans were speculating his offensive prowess and worth after the Va Tech game
Go back to the stats I posted concerning Herman and his productivity. Now go back through our offense totals as far back as you like and you will find few, if any, years of such offense output.

I'm really confused as to what point you are trying to make here. It's like you are trying to argue something I don't know about Herman. Are you confusing yourself?.
It initially started with your comment three pages back: "Tom Herman would have been gone after the Clemson 2013 loss (which is what the fans begged for)." I replied, showing why it wasn't warranted (even if some folks called for it), because Herman never had an games closing to the recent shits performances.

You then proceeded to point out three games under Herman as some sort of "proof", despite the fact I specifically mentioned those three games as exceptions, to which I replied, reminding you of those exceptions.

You decided you weren't done, replying "So only regular season games are to be the judgement of a coaches success and failures?", to which, yet again, I replied showing that those two post-season games weren't anywhere near as bad as yesterday, or 2015 Michigan and Sparty...three games under Beck's OC direction.

You then replied about my comparing Beck and Herman, to which yet again I had to correct you.

And here you are, yet again, replying just for the sake of arguing...it ain't me that's confused here.

Weird, but I think I'm over this loss.
Not here. Yep, I knew this team was young, but as I watched Alabama's offense do its best to give away the gifts their defense presented I kept thinking the Buckeyes could beat the tide a second time in three years.

I don't worry so much about losses to Michigan, Michigan State or the Pedsters - they're local and we get a chance to win back the bragging rights most years - but losing to teams from the South and LA seems to be the Buckeye's kryptonite.

I confess to my disdain for the South - SEC/ACC/USC and Texas and I am vexed by the Bucks lack of success against teams from those areas. Add to that the fact that we only catch games with them when we happen to meet up in a bowl game.

It may take decades to even the score with Clemson, South Carolina and the SEC. Look how long we waited to right matters with Notre Dame. The geographical advantage these teams have during bowl season makes it even more difficult.
