Game Thread CFP Semifinal: Ohio State vs. Clemson, Sat 12/31 @ 7p ET, ESPN

Some idiot complained how far Clemson & OSU fans will have to travel for the Fiesta Bowl. I responded, Tempe is practically home field for us. It'll be a major advantage.

I hope Clemson fans book those hotels fast. I'm assuming tOSU fans have built up relationships over the years. Not to mention already have timeshares/rentals.

My son and I took the trip last year. Got to see Ohio State mistreat Notre Dame and just had a great time. My son got a job offer while we were out there, he took it, and we got his family moved out there in Oct. So I don't have to mess with hotels whenever I decide to go to a Fiesta Bowl.

In Nov I bought 3 non-refundable plane tickets to Phoenix for Dec 18-25. Pop-Pop needed to see his granddaughter. Now I wish we would have gone a week later.

Anyway, the main thing I wanted to say about Ohio St playing out there is that it is amazing how many Ohio St fans live out there. Buckeye Nation is well represented in Arizona. I'm guessing local fans could easily use up OSUs ticket allotment plus some.

More I think about it, the more I think the Buckeyes win this one pretty comfortably. I could easily see us dropping 40 on Clemson's helter-skelter defense while our defense hasn't given up 30 points all year. We probably give up a lot of yards but not a lot of points. I'm thinking a 42-24 type of game.

I too feel confident about the opportunity. I hope our O-Line can tighten up a bit and give JT some time to go through his progressions. As well as opening up a few holes for Webber. I do not worry about the Silver Bullets they are just as opportunistic as Bama and seeing how Clemson played against VTech I feel the secondary will have plenty of chances to get a pick and the LB's should be able to contain Watson for the most part.

Hopefully they can shore the oline up a bit in the 3+ weeks until the game, that seems to be the biggest concern at this point, more so on the pass blocking side, it would be nice if JT had some time in a game against better competition.

I completely trust Urban will have them fully prepared though.

Urban with 3 weeks to prepare.

That has to be our biggest asset at this point. Clemson is extremely vulnerable, but in my opinion, so are we, judging by how we have played the past few weeks. Clemson is also capable of absolutely exploding. Going to be some fascinating matchups: Buckeye O Line vs Clemson D Line, Clemson WRs vs Buckeye secondary, two of the most notable.

Our offense isn't competent? It's inconsistent, sure, but nothing like the clown show run by appleby.

Yea. Florida's whole offense is terrible, Appleby particularly. The guy is a 57% passer with 27 tds and 24 ints in his career

Florida's offense has managed to score 30 points only 3 times this year, against North Texas, Kentucky and Missouri and they were held under 20 points 5 times. Anyone trying to compare Florida's offense and ours is out of their mind.

I too am confident in this one. I've seen Clemson give up points, get taken to the wire by some not that great teams, and yes Clemsoning seems to want to come back in a big way. Bottom line is this will be the best defense not even close that Clemson has seen and if we can stop Watson from hurting us with his legs I think we win something like 31-24

I'm shocked we are favored at this point to be honest. A lot of pundits seem to favor Clemson

They mentioned how lucky he was that it was in the 1st half. Oh well, then they won't have any excuses...

Outside of Boulware they don't have much of anything at LB, so to lose one of their starters for a half is not good.....

The more I think about it, Clemson has the advantage on the DL versus our OL and Venables likes to be aggressive.....but with their lack of talent at LB, Barrett might have a field day running the read option. Would love to see plenty of Weber/Samuel sets and drive them bonkers. Don't see this as a game where he is going to have 30 attempts passing but I'd be surprised if he doesn't have over 100 yards rushing.
