There are a lot of people complaining that they are getting tired of watching the same three to six teams playing for the "playoffs". The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. It is damaging college football IMHO. We are lucky to be one of the teams getting richer, but it is not good for the sport to have three teams cleaning house on the recruiting trail because they are almost locks each year for the playoffs. It is just getting boring for everyone else to watch.

It’s kind of the chicken and the egg for me....

The reason Bama, OSU, and Clemson are near locks every year and recruit the best, is because they develop their players for the NFL.

If other teams want to start chipping away at Bama, Clemson, OSU, etc.....they need to start building a significant resume of building players up and getting them paid.

As it stands right now, these kids (in 95%) of the cases, understand going to Bama and being developed (even if it means waiting a year or two) is far better for their pro prospects than going somewhere, playing early, but missing out on elite coaching.

IMO, it’s on other programs to figure that out.....

I think think this is a growing threat to the sport's popularity. It was far more level back in the day with at least 10 blue blood schools fighting for the championship every year. Now UGA and OU seem to be the only other schools that have a shot to at least be competitive in the playoff.
Edit: I could see West Coast people especially losing interest with the Pac12 fading as it seems to be doing.
Absolutely they have... particularly Clemson and Alabama. I just dont want to see them and frankly if we are good enough to get in I hope they dont.

Not because I dislike them but because I want to see someone else.

Even in NCAA 2014... I remember I use to pick different schools to play because it's just not fun to play Clemson or Alabama every year.

I'm sure they feel the same way about us too (at least a portion or them).

Agree, zem. I remember the Alamo Bowl a while ago. It was exciting to go to a new city (San Antonio) and face a new opponent (Oklahoma St), yet it was considered a massive failure. I also remember conference ties to bowl games, which could be detrimental. An undefeated OSU team would have to play the PAC champion, regardless of their record. Meanwhile, an undefeated Notre Dame could chose to play the highest ranked team and thus have a better chance to be voted champion. Is it better now? I'd argue "marginally". Yes it's "settled on the field" but you have massive disagreements on who gets that opportunity. I feel it's damned little better than the old Bowl Game-Conference Tie in then vote days.

This has always been apart of college sports imo. The blue bloods have been getting theirs since forever and I’m not sure how you change that.

I think it is getting wider though. Urban talked a lot about it lately. The ichigan's, Tejas, USC's, Florida St. etc used to get their share or 5 stars. Now it seems Bama, Clemson, and OSU getting them all nearly. The talent gap is getting wider.

this is a microcosm of society at large. A lot of people expect the rules to be changed to ensure an even result for everyone. I personally believe that if the playing field is the same to everyone, where you end up is on you.

Don't want Bama to dominate? Up your game and beat them. If you can't/won't then shut the fuck up. It's up to you. Don't whine to the NCAA.

IMO that has more to do with those programs being absolute trash than anything else. Especially USC and the Florida teams. Don’t be mad because those three CFP teams have competent athletic departments.

I mean make no mistake, college sports is absolutely not a level playing field even among P5 schools. It’s just rich to see fans of schools like USC, Florida, Texas, etc. complain about an uneven playing field lol. Like you think Saban is dominant at Alabama? Imagine the absolute havoc he could wreak at fucking USC.

Well, one thing that screwed up the old Big XII (Did I get those numerali romani correct?) was the Longhorn Network.

Texas to that conference ultimately destroyed it.

It is absolutely RICH, in several senses, that they should now be whining.

How about they bring back the old Southwest Conference, with Rice, Pony Excess, etc.?

I am just stating facts for the reason that the ratings were the lowest ever. Expect them to plummet further when it is the same teams every year especially when you have the two most hated teams in America playing most of the time for the title. The 4 team playoff has had unintended consequences, of which we have benefited. The other unintended consequence is the ratings are going to continue to decline, then we will most likely see changes to the playoff formatt.

Not giving you a hard time here but I didn't hear anyone crying about Bama's unfair advantages before they hired Saban and were losing games to directional Alabama teams.

Everyone in CFB is free to compete equally. Some will commit more resources than others, some will make better decisions than others, some will have more luck than others (in the short run). Those who have a goal, make a good plan and execute on it will likely have different results than those who do less of those things.

It's simple and it's fair. Opportunity is/should be guaranteed, not results.
