Seriously. .. just how awful do you need to be to fired by Kansas?

By accounts within the program he improved things in Lawrence, but the improvement never really translated to wins on the field. To be honest, it's going to be tough for any coach to walk into Kansas right now and be successful. This isn't the same Big 12 conference that Mangino was able to milk 12 wins out of in 2007. Nebraska wasn't playing great defense at that time (Gave up 76 points to the Jayhawks), Colorado was still in the Big 12, West Virginia wasn't there, A&M was a middling program and still there, Baylor was still crap, I think Snyder was still retired from KSU, etc. Big 12 was pretty much just comprised of Oklahoma, a Texas team whose wheels were soon to fall off, and maybe 1 or 2 okay teams. It's going to be a lot harder for anyone to come into Kansas right now and be successful, Iowa State is the only other real cupcake in that conference. 9 of their 10 teams went to bowl games last year.

Charlie has to be the smartest HC that ever sucked at being a HC. He's now collecting big checks from two different schools and isn't coaching for either of them. Maybe THAT's the schematic advantage?

Jim Rome must read BP:

Chuck Weis got Kansas and Notre Dame to pay him $26 mill NOT to coach?! Dude really does have a "schematic advantage." #1600Sat
