Since I've been in a mode where I trash teams uniforms and logos...I wanted to bring the subject to the roundball forum. Does anyone else think that the Charlotte Bobcats logo is an absolute JOKE? Why a professional organization would pay someone to come up with BOBCATS for a team name, is beyond me. Despite the lack of originality in mascot choice, the potential was still there for a sweet logo...but they screwed it up! This thing sucks!

On another note, props to the Memphis Grizzlies. The new color scheme is tight (ala the Denver Nuggets change last year).

Agreed - Bobcats: shitty name, shitty logo, shitty unis, shitty team. Both the Grizz and the Jazz have new color schemes this year, and both are vast improvements. Teams that need to follow suit and clean their shit up (in my opinion) include Golden State, Indiana, Milwaukee, Minnesota, and Toronto.

As far as i know...

The teams owner is BOB Johnson (Founder and former owner of BET), hence the name BOBcats. I know, its lame, cheesy, etc but thats the explanation that I've heard. And yes the logo does suk.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP)?Michael Jordan will give his fellow North Carolina alum, Larry Brown, a chance to redeem himself. In turn, Brown will try to salvage Jordan?s sinking reputation as an NBA executive.

Two years after his ugly exit as coach of the New York Knicks, Brown reached an agreement on Monday to return to the NBA as coach of the Jordan-led Charlotte Bobcats, a person familiar with the decision told The Associated Press.

The person, speaking on condition of anonymity because an official announcement has not been made, said Brown was expected to sign a contract on Tuesday. The Bobcats called an afternoon news conference for what they termed a ?major basketball announcement.?

Larry Brown is coaching again, at his ninth NBA stop and in his fourth decade. And history tells us he's bound to butt heads with Michael Jordan, the managing member for basketball operations of the Charlotte Bobcats.

We're going to get a reading fairly quickly on how well Jordan and Brown are going to be able to work together, since the long-term future of the Bobcats is about to be affected in a major way by the decision Jordan must make regarding Emeka Okafor -- one of two Charlotte players (the other is Nazr Mohammed) who previously played under Brown.

Okafor's experience with Brown was as part of Brown's 2004 U.S. Olympic team, which stumbled its way to the bronze medal in Athens with Okafor buried at the end of the bench -- he did not make a single field goal during those Games.
