Chasing History - Part 2 "The BigTen"

There's been much hoopla concerning OSU's 19 game winning streak. We all know OSU has a 22 game streak still to be broken. This got me to thinking about the great win streaks (and undefeated streaks) in BigTen history. I'm not going to break down each streak like I did in Part 1 (maybe at a later date). Too many of the streaks are older and the teams and records are somewhat meaningless. Many of the older records were against high schools and/or teams/schools that no longer exist.

What is really fascinating, is that OSU is now inside the top 10 all-time win streaks for the BigTen. In the next several weeks many of the other records are within our grasp. I've shown our current schedule and the games that correspond to each plateau on the BigTen Win Streak chart. Below this I've listed all the Win streaks and Undefeated streaks in BigTen history (18 or more games). The Undefeated streaks are now somewhat irrelevant. With the advent of overtime, the "tie" is a thing of the past. I don't see how many of these streaks (Michigan's 56 games) can be touched by a pure win streak. I list them for your entertainment.

What do you think? Can OSU climb the ladder and become the BigTen all-time Win Streak leader? It could happen by the 3rd game on next season.
