Cheat or go home: Coaches open up on cheating...

It was UK, and man I could write a book on what Cals doing up there. Dude is so far ahead of the cheating game it's nuts, hes knows exactly how to do it with never getting dirt on his own hands. It's both genius and mildly disgusting.

wait, there's basketball programs in the SEC?
since when?
C'mon, now.

Of course, that photo is attached to a story that has quotations from Shaq, such as, "Yes, they paid very well. Statute of limitations is up. I can talk about it...That’s right baby, LSU.”

we've had some amazing players over the years.

in fact, even though basketball is at best 3rd fiddle here, I'd put LSU's all-time starting 5 up against any other school in the country (using college careers, not NBA).

Yup- And it was that way when Pitino was there too (speaking from experience). Every time they sign a 5 star kid, I always have three guesses who their "sponsor" is.

Pistol Pete and Shaq... who else? (serious question, I really don't know )

PG - Chris Jackson (still holds NCAA freshman scoring record)
SG - Pete Maravich (still holds NCAA scoring records for total points scored, career ppg, top 3 ppg for a season)
C - Shaq
SF - Bob Pettit
PF - don't have a surefire answer here, but several who would fit nicely as the fifth guy.

Maravich's scoring records will likely never be broken.
Steph Curry was the most recent feller to have a shot. But it would have taken Curry a 4th year (Pete only played 3 due to freshmen being ineligible to play back then). Curry also had the benefits of 3 point line (nonexistent in Pet's day) and a shot clock (also didn't exist yet).

John Starks?

edit: Nevermind; for some reason I thought Starks went to LSU, but I was wrong.

him and Jackson semi-resembled each other. not a ton, but a lil bit.

Might want a couple more to feel confident against, say, UCLA, UNC, Kansas, or Duke.

yeah, it wouldn't be a slam dunk for LSU by any stretch.
but we'd match up very well with the blue bloods. especially considering we have never been a "basketball school".

difference between us and them is that we've had a few just absolute outstanding all time greats but scattered across 7 decades. and not a ton of just good ballplayers that played with them
those schools constantly have rosters of really good ballplayers, but not necessarily as many absolute all-time greats.

also, before anyone starts the Jordan noise, college Jordan wasn't anything close to what NBA Jordan was.

College Pete is easily hands down better than College Jordan.
Pro Jordan, well Pete doesn't even get mentioned in this discussion.
