Cheat or go home: Coaches open up on cheating...

I have a couple more things to add. Mark Stoops is running a very clean program at UK now, realized he didn't have to cheat to get solid Ohio kids. UK has, believe or not, outstanding football complex, and surprisingly great support for a program its size. Under Joker it was not the cleanest or tightest ship.

Like I said before Auburn is by far the worst cheater in the SEC. Like with Cam, they do it by proxy giving them deniability. Something else I heard during my time was Urban wasn't well liked in the SEC because he had no problem turning other schools in for things he heard while on the road. Coach Meyer won in the SEC and did it while trying to run a clean program. However, I also heard he didn't run a tight ship at all and tried to let the players police themselves. He filled a team with players who couldn't be controlled, who looked at football as a means to a million dollar end. Harvin, not Hernandez being the worst during his time. You can have 5 of those guys, not 30. When half of them didn't show up to a team meeting days before the Cincy game he knew it was time.

That's pretty much all I got from my time as a GA. Alot of it is just hearsay from around the league, so TIFWIW.

PS. Saban is a dick and Miles was awesome. Also, Muschamp was a prick, awful to work for apparently.

that's Chris Jackson before he converted to islam (which led to end of his career in america).

also his story is a pretty good one if you ever want to research it.

about how Tourette's was both an anchor that drug him down but also drove him to be what he became.

would spend hours shooting free throws until 10 in a row popped the net exactly right.
would be crying because he wanted to stop and go home but the tourette's wouldn't let him.

PG - Chris Jackson (still holds NCAA freshman scoring record)
SG - Pete Maravich (still holds NCAA scoring records for total points scored, career ppg, top 3 ppg for a season)
C - Shaq
SF - Bob Pettit
PF - don't have a surefire answer here, but several who would fit nicely as the fifth guy.

Maravich's scoring records will likely never be broken.
Steph Curry was the most recent feller to have a shot. But it would have taken Curry a 4th year (Pete only played 3 due to freshmen being ineligible to play back then). Curry also had the benefits of 3 point line (nonexistent in Pet's day) and a shot clock (also didn't exist yet).

him and Jackson semi-resembled each other. not a ton, but a lil bit.

PF - Hot Plate Williams

Still the depth of UCLA or UNC all time would wear your boys down.

Oh, I certainly believe the story on the UF players not showing up to the team meeting, I literally partied with over half the team(as well as Mardy Gilyard from UC who knew a bunch of the UF players from HS). I was in New Orleans for Christmas and New years with family, and went out damn near every night. Towards the New year, I forgot all about the Sugar Bowl(because I'm a Buckeye, I could care less about UC and was still bitter at UF), but the players from both teams got in on Dec 30, and immediately that night almost all of them took over Bourbon St. I figured I'd get away from the madness and go into an "adult entertainment" venue, and the entire room is filled with HUGE guys with blue and orange track suits on, with one small guy with a black and red one on. I ordered a drink and sat down, and a couple of the guys started chatting with me because I was one of the few non football players in the room, they joked with me for being an OSU fan, because of what they did to us a few years prior, but a majority of those guys weren't even there, or were just frosh. And Mardy found out that I was from Cincinnati and got really excited and started ordering drinks. I don't remember a single guy carded, or worrying about the price of a thing, money was just flowing. We went bar hopping until about 3am, and did the same until after New Years(even after the game!) I seriously don't know how they played, because I was beyond hungover watching the Sugar Bowl that year! Good times

When I was in school we played a game in a city where gambling was legal. Prostitution was not, within city limits but was every else in the state. LOL Wonder where that was. Guys on the team spent damn near all night the night before the game at a "Ranch". I couldn't believe it. Every team has dumbasses on it. Some teams are full of dumbasses.

Hmmm... Remember Muschamp's comment "thanking" tOSU for knowing a thing or two about NCAA violations? I dismissed the quote given it came from Muschamp, but this information makes me wonder... But I never doubted the following:
Muschamp was a prick, awful to work for apparently.

This whole post and the previous posts by @Rent Free also reminds me of the days leading up to the Meyer hiring at tOSU, and the Gene Smith's quote later on UFM's demands before being hired. Smith said that Meyer wanted to ensure that there were no violations other than what was already out. And if there was any revelations of violations, UFM's contract stipulated that he would be able to walk away. After further investigation, Gene Smith agreed, which says a lot about the program. I didn't know about the information in this thread then, and I dismissed the information as irrelevant. But given this information, I suspect Urban knew about this, and wanted to make sure that he wasn't walking into a shithole.

In conclusion, I am glad we have Urban. We are lucky to have Urban, a coach with integrity and class, and someone who cares for his players.
