</SMALL>SLIDELL, La. - An argument over a game of chess ended with a fight in which one player rammed the other's head through a plate-glass window, St. Tammany Parish authorities said.

Robert Talley, 34, was booked with second-degree battery and later released on bond, Sheriff's department spokesman James Hartman said.

Robert Henderson, 42, emerged from the broken window with several serious lacerations, deputies said. He was released after treatment at Northshore Regional Medical Center, Hartman said.

The fight occurred about 1 a.m. Sunday at Talley's house, which is about five miles from Henderson's.

Guess they'll need to come up with a whole new "chess smack talk" vernacular.

"I'm pounding a queen, bitch" er, no, that's not good...

"My bishop is pounding your..." er, wait, no, that might be worse...

    "I'm coming after your rook..."

On second though, better nix that idea :drunks:

guys, dont go judging people before you know them. Robert Talley grew up in a tough neighborhood. his father had just passed away and he was playing chess to raise money to get food. this was his only first violent offense and it happened before he was recruited as a chess player.

besides, his teachers and principal all say he is a great guy. lets just give him ONE chance and see if he can turn his life around in a structured environment.

Hmmm, could be but since we all know Chess is not a rev sport at Miami he might have just been releasing pent up rage due to the axing of chess via title 9.
