Cheesy Hair-Metal Bands

DEBuckeye

It ain't easy, bein' cheesy.
I saw something on VH1 the other day about 80's hair-metal, and it got me thinking (laughing, actually).

Who else listened to these bands in the 80's? I know you're out there- admit it. What were your favorites? It's scary how many I listened to and saw live. I'd list:

KISS
Winger (saw them at the Newport in Columbus)
Ratt (saw 'em live)
Whitesnake (saw 'em)
Extreme
Def Leppard (saw 'em)
Scorpions (saw 'em)
Night Ranger (saw 'em)
Autograph (saw 'em)
Quiet Riot (saw 'em)

The real scary thing is thinking back to the band I played guitar in- we played most of this stuff...

Well, I gotta cop to KISS, Def Leppard and the Scorpions - I saw 'em all.

The best concert I saw in my college days, however, was Madonna's "Like A Virgin" tour in Cincinnati. Laugh all you like - me, my buddy, and about 19,000 Madonna-wannabes.

The 80's were my party years. I love watching some of those 80's shows on VH1.

I would vote for:

Def Leppard
Bonjovi
White Snake
Night Ranger

Not big hair bands, but I enjoyed the following 80's groups some of which still survive:

AC/DC
TP and the Heartbreakers
REO
Van Halen
Hagar
Styx
Eagles
Billy Idol
Eddie Money

To name just a few.....

Iron Maiden is one the best bands ever-period!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hysteria is one of my 5 all time favorite albums.
I saw Poison, Warrant, Enuff Z Nuff (just plain horrible.....) and Quiet Riot a few years ago at Polaris. Warrant kinda sucked, but Bret Michaels and Kevin DeBrow both put on a hell of a show.

Guilty!

I used to listen to almost all those bands. Def Leppard and Poison were my favorites. Watching all those Remember the 80's type shows really brings back memories.

Here's a really bad joke my brother told me....

What has 9 arms and sucks???

Def Leppard

:)

It's really hard to beat Poison, Ratt, and Cinderella, but how did you guys forget about Motley Crue? And Skid Row? For real connoisseurs, I offer Faster Pussycat and L. A. Guns.

Hit me glam fans!

I admit, I listened to some of them but I have a friend who is a huge hairband fan. He gets pumped anytime one of them releases a new album (Yep, some of them still record). He rattles off names of bands I have never heard of and looks at me like I am some kind of moron because I never heard of a band whose one hit was all the rage in one small section of the country for two weeks in 1985. He always jokes that he still has buttless pants he wears to these reunion concerts.

All in all, I hope that era of music never returns.

LJB: I forgot about Motley Crue good catch.....

Did Ratt ever do anything more than go round and round.....

What we really need is to know what happened to some of these bands like:

The Michael Stanley Band
Donnie Iris
Gary Myrick and the Playboys

Hey Joan Jett is touring does she count as big hair?????
