Cubs secure franchise's 10,000th victory with win in 10th

DENVER -- The lovable losers' 10,000th win was a memorable one, filled with blown leads, big hits, great catches and, lastly, high-fives all around.

The Chicago Cubs beat the Colorado Rockies 7-6 on Ryan Theriot's RBI single off Kip Wells with two outs in the 10th inning Wednesday night for their sixth straight win.

Chicago hasn't won a World Series in a century, and truly significant wins in that time have been rare, but the current Cubs had fun being a part of this one.

"It was a tough first 10,000 wins," Theriot said with a chuckle. "I hope the next 10,000 are easier."

Contd...

Planning a trip to Wrigley this May for my older brother's bachelor party. I'm thinking Cubs/White Sox on May 18,19 or 20. I want to sit in the bleacher outfield seats.
Any suggestions on the best way to get about 5 or 6 tickets? Also, I've been to many Cubs games at Wrigley, but never in the outfield. What's it like out there? I'm trying to have a good time.

It's a lot of fun, and would be very rowdy for that series. I've sat in the bleachers 2-3 times. It's an experience in and of itself in that park.

Every time I've bought tickets was on-line on first day of sale. That series will probably sell fast with fans from both sides of town buying tix. My suggestion is just to watch for when they go on sale and try to snag them. It's fairly easy to hit a broker in the city before the game and purchase seats, but I've never done that for the bleacher tickets so I don't know what selection would be.

You should look into the new Budweiser deck that's going into the RF bleachers too. 150 seats or so and will be like a party deck basically. It will sit on top of a new LCD screen they're putting out there. Kind of set-up like the seats above the green monster.

Rooftops are fun too. I know they are fairly affordable to rent out.

Here's the drawing of the addition:

I have been to a bachelor party on a Wrigley Rooftop and it is a total riot.
Unlimited beer, they bring pizza, wings, hot italian beef sandwiches and hotdogs all around as much as you want.

I couldn't tell you the score of the game, but it was probably the most fun I've had at a sporting event in a long time.

Downside is prices are probably $90-120 bucks per person. But for all you can drink and eat during the game, it's likely worth it.

Yeah, if you add up the cost of a bleacher ticket and the cost of beer and food in the stadium, you'll end up about even or a little ahead (depending on how much you're planning on drinking).
