Chris Ash (Secondary Coach Jacksonville Jaguars)

The Rutgers job is a suicide mission. The only coach who should take it is an older coach who realizes he's not going to get a shot at a head coach job elsewhere, or a young position coach who can skip multiple steps to get a head coach job.
Sounds basically like Schiano to come back... THe PSU thing torpedoed his chances at big jobs and he did well there before the NFL think didn't work out for some reason. So if he still wants to coach it seems like perfect fit. However there is danger as Snyder is the only coach I can think of leaving somewhere then going back later and not looking a shell of their former selves.

Well the dude was 110 years old so he did actually look like a shell of his former self.

Just sayin': Mack Brown at UNC does have a legitimate chance of being another one.

while Snyder does actually look like a shell of his former self, I’m pretty sure what’s coaching at UNC right now is literally Mack Brown’s discarded exoskeleton

It seems exceedingly rare that a coordinator coming from coaching under a legendary coach at a premier program succeeds in his first HC gig. Just take a look at the Alabama/Saban coaching tree... I wonder if Ash fell into this same scenario- trying to apply the same things he watched UFM do with Ohio State at Rutgers.

Lemme eliminate the wonder... tried to emulate everything from UFM.. both on and off the field...

Simple lesson here.. without a line (in this case BOTH offense and defense).. you can't win. See Browns history since coming back
Really good Special Teams.. Good WR, RB and DBs.. adequate LBs.. will never know about QB (again, Browns history proved it)
They'll have 1 or 2 pretty good ones per line ... so they get double teamed or schemed.. but rest are not B1G level

Buyout could have Rutgers paying fired Chris Ash until 2023

Rutgers has officially moved on from Chris Ash as head coach, but they aren’t exactly off the hook with him just yet. In fact, he may be on the payroll for another few years.

As reported by NJ.com, Rutgers still owes Ash a total of $8.47 million that was due on his remaining contract. In 2017, Ash signed a new contract that ran through the 2022 season and expired in Feb. 2023. Rutgers originally hired Ash on a five-year deal in 2015 that would have expired after the 2020 season, which would have saved the school a good amount of money in the long run. As it stands, the school owes Ash for three-and-a-half unpaid seasons of work.

Of course, there could always be some negotiation between the two sides as they go their separate ways. If Ash happens to take another job, Rutgers wouldn’t necessarily be off the hook for his bi-weekly payments either. Rutgers would simply be required to pay the remaining difference between what he is owed under the Rutgers contract and the pay he receives from any potential new contract he receives elsewhere.

But, according to NJ.com, Ash and Rutgers will have to agree on a separation agreement. While Ash is entitled to the full amount owed to him under his contract, it is always possible a lower buyout fee may be agreed to as the process plays out.

I’d let them off the hook on the $0.07 million part of the contract.
