Chris Ash (Secondary Coach Jacksonville Jaguars)

Smart football likes it so I like it. Now for the true test to see how hardcore of a Buckeye fan you are---are you going to watch the 61 minute dry erase board x's and o's video of Coach Ash he posted on twitter?
Why would I watch the condensed version?

I will be anxious to see if the NCAA let's this hire go through. I believe there is a bylaw that prohibits an SEC DC taking a CO-DC job in the B1G.

I'm trying to embrace positivity here, but how is hiring the guy responsible for 3 Rose Bowl chokes and dead last in the SEC a home run? I know nothing of this guy, so I'm trying to get him as a clean slate (basically, why should I forget about the aforementioned things I posted)

Arkansas probably had a couple years of bad recruiting considering they went from Petrino in 2011 to an interim John L Smith and then another new coach in Bielema. Keep in mind Taver Johnson is down there as well and all I've heard lately is how good of a job they are recruiting down there. And the chokes were hardly his fault. The defense actually kept them in those games, especially last year against Stanford. They just couldn't score.

How was he "responsible" for those Rose Bowl losses? Their D played pretty well in 2 of those losses, only getting shredded by Oregon...who shredded pretty much everyone that year. At Arky, Petrino treated defensive recruiting like a redheaded stepchild, so there wasn't much to work with there talent-wise. The hire is being pretty much universally praised by most people that know what the hell they're talking about.

To me those chokes had more to do with wisky's offense. The TCU game in particular.

I had to look but for some reason I thought Wisconsin built a comfortable lead, then lost. I was wrong about it being the Rose Bowl, It was MSU in 2011 and Nebraska in 2012

What's your opinion on the guy?
Good - not great - recruiter. Solid coach who always seemed to have his team ready to play. Secondary struggled while he was at Wisconsin. LOVES giving wide receivers a pretty good cushion, which can become frustrating. I think he'll be fine so long as he remains as a co-defensive coordinator. He will definitely benefit from better personnel at OSU. His defenses played pretty well in those three Rose Bowls, save against Oregon, which wasn't a huge surprise. Not a big "attack" guy but his defenses will hold up.

If you get a chance, try to find and watch his chalk talk on defending the read-option. He's definitely a sharp guy.
