Chris Ash (Secondary Coach Jacksonville Jaguars)

Jaguars hire Chris Ash to coach secondary

Former Texas defensive coordinator Chris Ash has reportedly landed an assistant coaching job in the NFL. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Ash has agreed to terms with the Jacksonville Jaguars to coach the secondary.

In Jacksonville, Ash is set to reunite with Urban Meyer, who he previously worked under for two seasons at Ohio State from 2014-15. During his time with the Buckeyes, he served as the co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach.

Ash has been coaching at the college level for the last 24 seasons, but this will mark his first coaching job in the NFL.

Ash, 47, was reportedly under consideration for a return to the Texas staff despite the Longhorns firing fourth-year head coach Tom Herman and hiring second-year Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian. But Sarkisian ultimately hired Washington’s Pete Kwiatkowski as his defensive coordinator.
