And I'll be making fun of those who do.

Losing to Iowa this year carries no shame - I think they can play at a level only 1 or 2 other teams in the nation can play at.

Beating scUM will be fun, assuming they aren't still ducking everyone by then.

Dude I watched him play in HS quite a bit and I’m well aware of his rise.

But he’s not yet on everyone’s radar as a ‘superstar’ and thus far isn’t showing up on many NBA draft boards with significance.

The guy is awesome and our best player but he’s not what you’d call a superstar.......yet.

The B1G is no joke and it is relentless in terms of teams that can beat you.

But even if we lose a few more games in conference, I hope it won't mean a lot of unhappiness or complaining (though who am I kidding, the complainers are with us always). I think right now we are having a pretty good season considering all the health/injury issues and only two T100 guys on the roster. And I do think the future is bright.

You definitely aren't wrong. What I always like about these guys though is how their best games come out against the favored teams or when we are supposed to lose. scUM better be ready or they'll take another L to this hungry Buckeye team.
We play bigger than our size every time out, it's the super fast guard teams that get hot shooting that are really going to be a problem, but they're a problem for everyone so what can you do. Limit mistakes and scrap. I like our chances.

DUTY CALLS. When Ohio State called Chris Holtmann about a potential job offer, let's just say the timing was... unique.



"I am completely medicated for the next 24-48 hours. I mean, I'm high as a kite. I'm not thinking straight. And that kind of commences the beginning of the interview process."

So, basically, the first time Chris Holtmann ever thought about becoming Ohio State's head coach, he was absolutely high as hell. I wouldn't have it any other way.

"My mom and dad love Kentucky, they love the Wildcats. My mom is an avid follower. They're diehards. They love it. They love their Cats," Holtmann continued on The Field of 68. "They love (John Calipari). So yeah, my mom will, still to this day, if we're playing, she'll watch us, if we're playing at the same time, she'll watch us and then listen to the Cats on the radio."

Goodman asked Holtmann about what happened when Ohio State and Kentucky met in 2019-20. "Yeah, they came. They came," Holtmann said. "My dad was really happy. My mom had some mixed feelings after the game when we won. My dad was happy. But my mom was honestly a little cold, I'll be honest. She was a little cold after the win. She was a little cold."

Athletic director Gene Smith deemed that Holtmann exceeded expectations on his performance review after last season.

“Chris did (an) exceptional job with all phases leading our men’s basketball program,” Smith wrote. “The academic achievements, behavior of the student athletes, competitiveness of the team on the floor, his personnel management of coaches, and support staff was excellent! The recruitment of players with character, who fit our academic mission, and are outstanding players continues to be an exemplar for him. Had there been post season play, it was clear this team had a chance to accomplish something special coming out of the best league in the country. Chris’s ability to put the players in position to be successful on the floor is a direct result of his outstanding coaching. He is an excellent teacher, who the players connect with and enjoy playing for.

“As we look to the future, continuing the connection with the players is critical as we manage this new normal of transfers. Chris has managed this new culture excellently, but it will need to be a continued issue to focus on.”
