Chris Webber (time-out)

The Pistons, maybe?

I figure the Pistons could use another big scoring threat, but Miami seems to take in every over the hill player that needs a team. Since he is already going to be making 20 mil a year for the next 2 years I figure he'll probably just finish this season for a minimum contract with a contender.

Pistons win sweepstakes, will sign Webber Tuesday

Chris Webber is going home.
Literally.
Webber told ESPN.com first on Monday via e-mail that he has chosen to sign with the Detroit Pistons, which will officially happen Tuesday after he clears waivers at 2 p.m. ET.

In Detroit, Webber will earn a pro-rated share of the league's $1.2 million veteran minimum, with $450,000 of that amount -- also pro-rated for the rest of the season -- picked up by the league office. Webber was scheduled to earn $20.7 million from the Sixers this season and $22.3 million next season, with the buyout believed to be paying him all but $5-7 million of that sum.

It seemed like a match made in hype heaven: he was an All-Star power forward with the Sacramento Kings, she, an SI swimsuit cover girl whose "fierce" beauty set tongues wagging on the NBA's press row. When the gossiping into his relationship with Tyra Banks became suffocating, Chris Webber treated beat writers to a profanity-rich polemic at his locker. His frustrations mounted in 2003, when a potential MVP season was cut short by a potentially career-ending knee injury, and ultimately peaked with him taking a timeout from Tyra after more than three years together. In the years since, Tyra has reinvented herself as a television mogul with mainstays such as The Tyra Banks Show and America's Next Top Model; CWebb has made few NBA cameos since undergoing microfracture surgery.

NBA roundup: Webber to rejoin Warriors

Tuesday, January 29, 2008 2:58 AM

Associated Press

More than 13 years after Chris Webber demanded to leave the Golden State Warriors, the free-agent forward is set to return.
Webber sent an e-mail to the Associated Press last night confirming he will rejoin the Warriors and coach Don Nelson, who won a power struggle with the former No. 1 draft pick in their messy first stint with the franchise.

Notable

? Golden State coach Don Nelson had no reservations about reacquiring Chris Webber 13 years after the two clashed and Webber asked for a trade.
The free-agent forward signed a contract yesterday, returning to the team that drafted him in 1993.
"He's one of the best passing big men to ever play the game," said Nelson, who said Webber would join the Warriors on Thursday. "That's going to really help us. And then he's going to increase our team IQ. He's a very smart player. And he's another big man, he makes us one more deep all along the roster.
"I think it's going to work out great and I can't wait to see him."
