Cincinnati Bengals (Just Burrow In)

The perils of the fat kicker strategy

He hit some ridiculous amount of FG's in a row before that and nailed a couple of long ones today but on the 30 some odd yard gimme, he pulls a muscle.

It can happen to them on any given movement. Running on and off the field, scratching their balls, drinking water. You just never know when it's coming.

That was a Bungle job if I've ever seen one. But at least Burrow looks good considering the pressure he faced. Should've won the game and while we got fucked on that PI call, should have never missed that field goal.

Ok, looking back there were some encouraging pieces of that performance. The defense looked improved, albeit I don't think the Chargers offense is a world beater. The defensive line was getting a pretty good push up front even without Atkins and then Reader for part of the game. The LBs got to the ball, especially Bynes (who probably was the player of the game for Cincy imo). Overall I wasn't thrilled with the coverage, although Bates played a hell of a game. Just gotta stay healthy as possible on that side of the ball, we seem to drop like flies every year.

On offense, the struggles were to be somewhat expected. The OL was overwhelmed at times, but the Chargers were determined to bring pressure every play. Green looked really good and there should have been a big TD for him that Burrow missed him on. I'm hoping we see more Tyler Boyd in the coming weeks, seems like a great hot read for Burrow. And I want to see Higgins soon too.

On to a Thursday night match up with Cleveland.
