Cincinnati Bengals (Just Burrow In)

Burkhead was shit, and New England is desperate to find the next Danny Woodhead.

The two O-linemen weren't getting any younger. Signing one would have probably been ideal, but there was no way Cincy was going to pay Whit that kind of money for a 35 year old.

What I really don't understand is avidly searching for the next RB vs actually addressing team needs. Sure, Bernard might be injury prone, and Hill is probably who everyone thought he was going to be, but that doesn't justify completely disregarding the needs at S, CB, LB, OT, and OG.

A rare good offseason move in dropping Maualuga and adding Minter at LB. We still need to draft another LB somewhat early on but I like Burfict, Minter, Vigil and Rey.

Really hoping to see us go with some sort of DE/S/LB draft order in the first few rounds...if Hooker is somehow there at 9, I would still love to see him in Cincy. However, we never draft Buckeyes and it seems like we are set on Barnett at DE (which I would be ok with). I am open to DT as well, though I am curious to see if Billings steps it up at DT with Peko gone.

Would love to see them go for a LB in the 3rd. I think the first two rounds need to be either:

1st: CB, S, WR, TE (more specifically OJ Howard)
2nd: CB, S , WR

If they take Howard or Ross in the 1st round (completely fine with those picks), you have to take a corner or Safety in the second. Wouldn't mind seeing a LB with the second pick though. Also, if Joe Mixon is still available in the third (highly unlikely), I wouldn't mind seeing the Bengals draft him. Assuming he isn't a shit bag anymore, and learned a thing or two from his previous transgressions.

Totally forgot about WR, that is definitely a propriety, would love Ross, especially if we can trade back for him. Don't see the need at TE though...Eifert is a stud when healthy, jury is still out on Kroft (although I'm not super high on him), and Uzomah showed some promise.

CB is somewhat of a need but resigning Kirkpatrick mitigates it somewhat. Dennard needs to get healthy but we invested a 1st round pick in him and then last year with the Houston guy...gotta give it this year to see if they pan out imo. Lattimore will be gone but Conley would be another great pick at 9 imo, I think he's going to be a star in the NFL and fits the mold of our defensive backs.

But I'm fine waiting until the second round for a DB and not reaching in the first, this DB class is extremely talented and deep, so we could get a good one in the second. Also OK with LB (I still love McMillan of course) in the second, although I agree that 3rd or 4th works fine. Getting Minter made LB much less of a need imo.

No thank you haha, Hooker or Adams please. As much as I hate on Peppers though, it wouldn't shock me if he turned into a good pro once he focuses on one position. Mike Brown, this is not an endorsement.
There's literally no chance in fuck he'll be a good pro. Maybe if he's one of the millions of kids who goes pro in something other than sports.

I read an article about the utilization of Eifert vs being able to get the ball to Green, and, when healthy, Eifert was the more viable option. Obviously some factors come in to play, a huge one being matchups and drawing double teams. AJ has notoriously been double teamed his entire career. Another one being the new offensive coordinator who seems to be extremely gun shy throwing the deep ball to Green in hopes of keeping mistakes by Dalton to a minimum. Part of what makes the Dalton/Green tandem great is the deep ball. I'm not sure the new(ish) OC is the right choice moving forward. Adding another red zone threat type TE would go back to the project Cincinnati tried pulling off with Gresham and Eifert a few yeats back. If done properly, and you draft two quality handed players, it's an unstoppable tandem. Adding Howard would also allow Eifert to split out to give the defense a different look.

This is all assuming Howard is still there. Which a lot of mock drafts have him being taken a pick or two before the Bengals. For whatever reason, I feel this will be a secondary heavy top 10. That doesn't bode well for who I want in orange and black. Malik Hooker. I wouldn't normally wish any Buckeye the misery of being a Bengal, but Hooker can add an element to the defense they had with Reggie Nelson. Nelson also made Kirkpatrick a MUCH more useful corner by allowing him to take everything underneath, and Nelson taking everything over the top. I think Hooker could provide the same look, and help someone like Dennard find his footing in the rotation. I don't think Dennard is a bad CB, or a bust. Sure he hasn't performed up to this point, but losing a pro bowl safety certainly wasn't the best for him. The secondary has been a mess since losing Nelson. That's why I think if Hooker is there, you don't think twice about taking him. Even if Fournette or another top draft prospect drops to them.

If Ross is drafted before the Bengals, then I wouldn't want them drafting a WR until at least the second round. I think there will still be plenty of talent available then even. Curtis Samuel could even potentially be available then. If last year's draft proved anything, it's drafting players from Ohio State won't disappoint. They come ready to perform, and ready to make big plays as rookies. Homer or not, you can't go wrong drafting Lattimore, Hooker, Samuel, or McMillan in this draft.

I'm with you 100% on Hooker, he is far and away at the top of my wishlist for players who might actually be available when we pick and if he is available, you just take him. Pair him up with Iloka and that would be awfully rangy and athletic safety position...as the Seahawks proved in their Super Bowl runs, having a pair of stud safeties can go a long way and Hooker has the highest ceiling of maybe any prospect in the draft. Usually you wouldn't draft a safety that high but this is not your typical draft class and the safety position seemed to be one of the glaring holes last year. The only issue I see with Hooker is he might not be an instant impact, as he is still learning the game and needs to develop more physically. I saw an analysis that said he might look really bad in year 1 and be a Pro Bowler by year 3...I tend to agree with that analysis. However, almost every mock has Hooker gone before we pick.

The more I think about it, the more I like the thought of taking Barnett with the first pick (assuming Hooker is off the board, which I think he will be)...we need pass rushers and I think Barnett is about the closest thing to a sure thing in this draft class and will be ready to play right away. I don't really see any of the receivers as top 10 picks, though Mike Williams and Corey Davis are close...if we want to take a WR, I say trade back and pick up an extra pick. Regardless, I think we can get a really good WR prospect in the 2nd round this year with the emphasis teams will likely be putting on DB's and DL. I would be happy with any of Ross (he could possibly slide this far with durability concerns), Samuel (obviously my preference, he can be utilized in many ways and his athleticism is what this offense needs, we already have plenty of possession-type receivers), Godwin or JuJu Smith-Schuster. If none of those WR's are there, safety would be a fine pick with Budda Baker. Then in the third, I would like to see LB or S, with McMillan still my preference if he is available.

Lattimore and Hooker available and we take Ross. I hope Ross has a breakout season, and he will have the opportunity to do so with all of the attention Green will get. But I just don't know if I like passing up on two starter-ready secondary players while also knowing there will be talent at WR available in the second and possibly the third.

Jury is out on this one.
