Cincy ROSE COLORED GLASSES PREDICTION

TallIndian

Senior
OK ... SO LETS LOOK ONLY AT THE BEST CASE SCENERIO ...

After all ... these are MY BUCKEYES ....

OFFENSE ....

for the first time in years .... we have a "HIGHLY RECRUITED" Blue Chip QB
this QB ... whichever one it is .... was an Elite 11 QB, and they have spent 3 years in the system. They know the plays, they know the team, they know the drill ...cold.

They hook up with Santonio .... and a fleet of TALL receivers with speed.

We have a new "athletic" line but they are all experienced players ...
no freshman on the 1's ... and they are gelling nicely ... so says the blogs.

At running back ...we have healtier returning backs ... and two pretty good
freshman that many think will see the field .... but our secret weapon may be in using our returning FB as the starting TB. while this situation could be better ... the cupboard is not bare .... we will be OK, as our new more accurate passing game will get the 8 & 9 guys out of the box, and we will see a large net increase in running yards.

Throw in a few screens for a change, and backs coming out of the backfield,
and Ted Ginn on an end around or two, .... and possibly a sweep with Smith
with the ball in his hands with TG as his option man ..... HO BABY !!!

And we have a great Field Goal option if needed ....

My Scarlet Glasses see lots of points being put up by this team ....

then we go over to the D

Front line re-loaded ... we are not hoping to fill holes here ... they are already adequatly filled ... we are questioning if they are great vs just damn good.
Plus we have DEPTH ....

Next we back them up with possibly the best group of line backers in the country. So we get a good group back from last year ... plus we just happen to be able to plug in Schlegel ... to a returning group that was already here ...
Oh .. and by the way ... he sat our last year, and played on the scout team, and has a year of Experience at tOSU already .... How would you like to be the opposing QB looking across at that bunch of Scarlet & Gray ?????

Now lets put a group of D-Backs behind them with two darn good cover corners... with two more good ones to back them up, followed by two very experienced safties ..... for arguably the Best Damn D in the Land.

Now lets pick a mid major college to throw into the ring AT HOME for the first game ... and spice it up by putting our old D-Co-ordinator in there as the new
head coach ... while he is good ..and knows our personel ... he just put in a whole new system for UC ... and doesn't know his own players as well as he knows ours. He has a slew of holes to fill on his team .... and he opens on the road against a top ten team with a sell out crowd of 105,000 ... make that 107,000 with standing room only .....

TI's ROSE COLORED PREDICTION:

Zwick rolls .... 21 of 24 with three TD's, no picks ... 300 yards

Running game goes for 220 with of the frewshman getting 100 plus

total offense 520 yards ... 6 TDs and a field goal ... for 45 points ..

the D adds a pick off for a score .... 7 points,
and special teams adds one score for 7 more points

tOSU ... 59
Cincy ... squat
Cincy: total net yards running .... - 6.

and the Bucks will roll on from there.

Things are lloking good through my new scarlet colored glasss ... I think I will
wear them for the whole season ....
and even wear them in Miami for the Orange Bowl!!!!!!

Ugh, you smokem heap big piece pipe!

I pretty much agree with your entire take, until the actual game predictions. I don't see getting above 40, let alone near 60...Tressel will call off the dogs once we got up by 24-28 points. He will not humiliate Dantonio. Besides, we haven't scored 50 points since the middle of the 2002 NC season, and haven't even cracked 35 points since then (not counting the 3OT win vs NC State).

This was my "BEST CASE SCENERIO" prediction.
While JT would call off the dogs, sometimes you just can't help but sccore ....
If JZ gets pulled in the third quarter.... Smith will not back off on his chance to shine .... nor will any of the #2s. Play calling would be the key.

I think this could happen ....

WIll I put any money on it ... no way ... Show me the goods first.

More like you smokem big crack pipe!? lol

I say we have two bad punts that keep this game close as we are trying to pull away.
NO way Tressel goes for the jugular either and runs this score up on his former right hand man. I'd say we win by 10-13

Hmm.. First Game of the season... Tress usually does open it up a bit more... (I think he wants to make sure the 'D' is good)... So I'm going to say it will be similar to Texas Tech or Washington... I'll go 31-10

I'll take a read on that in a bit. I guess if I had to predict a score I would say something around 23-10

some factors I consider:

first game of year cobwebs. i.e. rust.
geno wants some revenge
their head man wants to show he knows our guys..
tressel make go easy on his guy if he knows the game is secure. (cincy might score late to make it look closer than it is?)

just some thoughts of mine

34-13

10 of Cinci's points come off of turnovers in the redzone. After the game Tressel says, "We really need to work on that before the Big Ten season starts, heck we won't beat Marshall next week if we give them the ball inside our 20 all game." Columbus Dispatch headline Sunday: Tressel Says 'Heck'!

I think that some are mistaken if they think that this will be a blowout. For one thing, Tressel and Dantonio are former co-workers, so Tressel will not run up the score on Dantonio. Second thing, Cincy has a pretty decent defense which will make this one interesting until the second half.

I believe this will be similar to the last 2 openers: decent teams that could give us trouble. I think the D will stay strong and we'll pull away in the 2nd half and win by maybe 17, 27-10.

Not to pick on you daddy, as you are definitely not the first to say this, but what is all this talk about JT not "running up the score" on Dantonio because they're friends, or former co-workers, or JT respects MD too much, or whatever? First of all, how do you people define "running up the score?" If there is 20 seconds left in the game, and tOSU is up, then yeah, I think we'll kneel on it. But if we're up by 14, and there is 10 minutes left in the game, do you honestly think we'll just sit on the ball? Not running up the score, to me, means that we won't go deep in that situation (10 min. left, up 14). But we'll still go for a first down. We'll still pass the ball. We could still try a reverse. I don't think UC has the horses to stop our improved running game (ok, ok, I'm the eternal optimist here), and I don't think JT is going to change his gameplan simply because he is up by 7 or 10 points going into the 4th quarter. Plus, I think he is going to want to get Zwick/Smith as much experience as possible.
