If you're just starting out or need more trophies, join Script Ohio. That's the feeder clan for Buckeye Grove. Fewer wars, but you can build yourself up quicker instead.

My defenses need work, but everything else seems to be coming along nicely. I'm a level 24 and have had the game about a week or so now.

Ok - what's your town hall at? That's the important one and it takes quite a while to get all of your defenses upgraded at TH7/TH8.

Level 5. I've got the mines and elixir pumps and storage up to either 6 or 7. Walls are level 3 and 4 in some places. Barracks are upgraded to have the bombers in the balloon unlocked.

Nah it's cool man - I'd say if you join script it probably wouldn't take forever for you to join BG....the key is getting all your upgrades done before you level up your TH...something I found out the hard way.

I'm pretty sure I made my iPhone games username "Nichorassssssss" or something, so be ready for a join request, if that's how it works.

You are in the Clan......I'm not sure if I will go the new feeder clan or stay in Script...although I may not be able to get in depending on criteria...I have been dumping trophies to do more building.
