Clemson RB James Davis (official thread)

Totally agree with you tsteele if he thinks that Clemson is a great place and wants to get early pt wait till we get him in for a visit and show him our depth chart. He might commit on the spot. Wasn't Va Tech his leader last week. He sounds like a flavor of the week guy, and I really think we might be the best bet for him. Just got to get him to take his visit tho.

I follow tech's recruiting carefully as well because I live about 20 minutes from Blacksburgh, Va. Let me tell you, Tech doesn't need a running back? I have no clue why they want this kid? They have two Seniors next year, The number 3 running back from last year redshirted and is a freshman, and they also picked up Elon Lewis. So I'm kinda confused as to why he would want to go to tech? Great school, with great fan support, plus they're my #2 team FAR behind the bucks, but I just don't see any sense in him going to tech. Because from what I understand George Bell from last years recruiting is tearing it up. He'd just be a casualty there, and he'd prolly get a chance to play here because of our depth.

Well it looks like Clemson is the leader right now and not Tech.

Maybe since he is trying to get Thomas to go to school with him, they can talk about tOSU as a possibilitity and end up here. Wouldnt that be a nice suprise. Both seem somewhat interested about tOSU and wait till they take a visit. The coaches need to get them to visit together.

CLEMSON ? Less than 24 hours after complaining to a host of reporters about his lack of involvement in the offense over the last month, Clemson star tailback James Davis said all is well.

Davis met with Tigers head coach Tommy Bowden Saturday morning to discuss the concerns he had and in that meeting, Bowden showed Davis the error of his ways.

During the meeting, Bowden had articles of what Davis told the media Friday night and the two of them went over the concerns listed. Bowden then presented a handful of stats and running back rotations to try and show Davis? concerns were all for naught.

Davis bought into what Bowden said.

?I thought the rotation and probably been going different, but I went over all the stats the last four games and it?s all the same,? said Davis, who was last off the practice field Saturday evening. ?I just thought it was all different, but he showed me everything?s played out as it was.

During his seven-plus minute interview with the media Saturday, Davis spoke glowingly about the coaching staff and even spoke in a positive manner about that last series against South Carolina.

?I was probably just over exaggerating yesterday,? Davis said. ?The coaches are just trying to do whatever it takes to win the game. It wasn?t nothing bad or anything like that or going against the coaches trying to say they made the wrong call. I don?t think they were wrong with what they did.?

Bowden said that Davis? popping off to the media was nothing more than a youthful indiscretion.

?It?s like last time when he went home and it made headlines and all that stuff, he was back the next day and everything went pretty good,? Bowden said. ?I want guys who want the ball. He wants 2,000 yards. And that?s good. That?s what I want. ?

?I am not concerned. Remember last time, that big thing when he went home? Was that a problem? No. This one is the same thing.?

Tailback C.J. Spiller said he was unaware of any concerns or frustrations that Davis may have had.

?(There?s not a running back controversy) that I know of,? Spiller said. ?I?m not sure what?s going on, but I?m pretty sure there?s nothing going on between the running backs. ?

?Every time he got up (in the morning for a game), he was fired up. I didn?t think he was frustrated at all.?

The level of aggravation displayed by Davis Friday caught the coaching staff off guard.

?Yesterday, when we were walking off the practice field, we were having a great discussion, a very enthusiastic, very positive discussion,? offensive coordinator Rob Spence said. ?He was not in a complaining mode or disgruntled. There was none of that. And I don?t know where all that come from. We were having a great talk and a great discussion and it was on the very positive side. That?s why I guess (Bowden) was kind of miffed as to why all the attention about him being upset. And so am I, to be honest with you.?

Spence then added that everything is copasetic and that there are no hard feelings one way or the other.

?Everything is fine,? he said. ?Everything is better than fine.?

Sports information director Tim Bourret said no punishment was handed down to Davis as a result of his remarks.

Bowden said it?s not his policy to limit media access to any player, even when they say something he doesn?t like or agree with.

?I think it?s an education process,? Bowden said. ?Everybody?s different. I let mine talk.?

Davis said in the future when there?s problem or concern that he will first speak with members of the coaching staff instead of airing out his frustrations to the media.

?He said come to him for now on and he will work to get things worked out,? Davis said. ?He said he likes guys who want the ball and who are hungry. ? I think everything got solved with Coach Bowden. I think everything?s going to be great. ? I think it was just a big misunderstanding.?
