Cleveland Browns (2012 season)

Browns

I can see what you are trying to do Harbaugh. You might be able to fool Mary Kay but hopefully you cannot fool big Jim Haslam.

Also, ysubuck mentioned this in the game thread but it is time to bring back the replacement officials. The regular officials are turning the NFL:lol: into a skirt league. You cannot blindside a guy that is trying to catch a guy on your team with the football and you cannot even touch a QB on the shoulders anymore. Maybe you can do the latter but you better not be wearing a Browns uniform.

Also, the NFL needs to seriously look at changing the PI penalty to the same as it is in college. 15 yards for an objective call is enough. Perhaps they could go to a spot foul in the last two minutes of each half but I'm not even sure about that.

whenever you see jeff triplett doing a cleveland browns game, you can count on at least 2 borderline ridiculous calls going against them. yesterday was no exception.

I feel bad for Gordon because he got taken to the Penn State showers by the refs a few times yesterday.

I think most of us agree that the Browns need to lose this year to make sure they get the highest draft pick possible so if they are going to lose I would prefer that it be by ridiculous calls by the refs and bad coaching decisions rather than lack of effort or talent.

I do love seeing Haslam's reaction when Shurmur does something boneheaded. I personally think it would be a horrible decision to fire him during the season because a better coach would just end up putting up more wins and screwing up the draft.

the only legit argument to firing shurmur is that he is absolutely unwilling to adapt anything on offense to cater to what weeden does well in an attempt to help him develop.

look at the other rookie qb's and what their teams have done for them.

indy constantly uses 2 TE sets, and in fact drafted 2 TE's because it was predominantly what luck did at stanford. washington has basically used baylor's offense with some of shanny's stuff mixed in for RG3. tannehill is running the exact same offense he did in college. russell wilson is asked to manage games only.

still, weeden is averaging more attempts per game than all of them, and not one thing in Shurmur's WCO caters to what he does well. they don't spread the field for him. he rarely operates out of shotgun. he's obviously more comfortable throwing between the hashes to intermediate routes, yet shurmur lives and dies by 4 yard out patterns. weeden had a really good streak of games going, and his YPA were well above 7. then, you started hearing all these comments about how he needs to check down more, check down more. his YPA the last two games hasn't even reached 5.

pat shurmur is slowly ruining him. but at least shurmur is classy enough to throw weeden and other players under the bus in his press conferences instead of actually owning up to his own failures.

I figured his post comments towards players, questionable decision making,
Poor clock management and terrible offensive strategy would be enough ..?

there's plenty more than Shurmur's inability to adapt his offense to Weeden's strengths.

The man is a walking, excuse-making colostomy bag. His play calling is atrocious, this team is rarely if ever properly prepared AND he throws his guys under the bus at every opportunity.

I didn't hear his postgame, but can I assume he ripped Weeden for making "bad" throws at the end of the game and Gordon for having so many "silly" penalties?

a reporter said that weeden had a clunker of a game. shurmur's response was that "yeah that's a good word for it." not something like he's a rookie, he made some plays that got overturned, we need to put him in better situations.... and so on.

he then repeated about 4 times how this team wasn't mentally tough enough.

total asshole.

I'm fairly certain Pat Surmur hates America...and puppies.

What do you expect from somebody born in that state up north?

I'd pay a hundred bucks to see aHaslam box his ears, then toss him out the front door of browns HQ with all his belongings like they do in the cartoons.
