Cleveland Browns (2012 season)

Browns president:bonk: Mike Holmgren i
s leaving the organization immediately.

Following yesterday?s game, a Browns spokesman said the game was Holmgren?s last with the team. The 64-year-old Holmgren had hoped to stay until the end of the season in an advisory role, but left open the possibility of an earlier departure.

He has been replaced by new owner Jimmy Haslam with CEO Joe Banner. Holmgren spoke to several players and Haslam in the locker room. He will address the media today
Browns

I think Colt better start warming up his arm for the Raiders. It would be interesting to see McCoy's stats from his rookie season compared to Weeden's.
CLEVELAND — Browns Pro Bowl offensive tackle Joe Thomas took one look at Brandon Weeden and knew something was wrong with the quarterback.

“He was on the ground just kind of shaking his head,” Thomas said.

I'm not sure if it's the best case or not, but it would be good if Colt could come in for a couple games and set the world on fire to increase his trade value. Only bad thing is it would probably take the Browns to 5 wins and ruin their chances of getting a top 5 pick. It's going to be hard to lose the next two games regardless of who plays QB.

I think we will be okay when it comes to the draft even if we around #5 or #6 because two of the top selections will probably be QB's and possibly a skilled player (WR).

Oakland could give us problems out there but I don't see us losing Kansas City at home. I don't know if we would have a chance against the Redskins at home or not.

There was a post on another board which showed that Weeden's stats were better than Kosar's in his rookie year and Bernie had some more est. players. I just would be interested in seeing what McCoy's stats were in the same amount of games that Weeden has played.

I'm starting to think there is a direct correlation.. just like Polamalu...

Polamalu plays = huge increase in odds Steelers get a win
Haden plays = only chance Browns get a win

I agree that Haden is probably the most important player on the team. Having him on the field allows him to cover the other teams best WR and roll the coverage away from him which makes the other DB's look better. The only other player that would have an impact similar to that would be Richardson.

Different era. Different offenses.

This. It's an offensive heavy league. Holding any team under 20 points deserves a freaking medal.

Vs Oakland its a toss up. Our Dline is great against the run, so-so in pass rushing. I wondered why we didn't see Winn line up more on the interior on obvious passing downs against the Steelers. He's very quick off the ball, great intensity and a great motor.

KC at home is a W. Our last of the season, lord willing.
We won't beat Washington. Top 5 pick. KC will take a QB. The Jets might be dumb enough to do the same. Jacksonville? Who knows.

I still think Weeden looks solid. Mistakes were to be expected. If he gets those ironed out, there is no question in my mind that he's better tha McCoy.

Totally agree, Weedens arm strength > colt mccoys noodle dick arm. Colt Mccoy will be a nice back up QB his whole career but if you can't decipher that Weeden is a better NFL qb then you are and idiot and you don't need stats to back it up ,use your own two eyes.

I had a discussion with my daughter's boyfriend about the McCoy / Weeden QB issue. I feel the Browns could have gotten as much production from McCoy, if not more. at the helm. It's not a knock on Weeden as a player, it's a knock on drafting a now 29 year old rookie who is not a major upgrade at a position of need. I'm not saying McCoy is the answer either but why pick a player that is not a long-term solution?

I have shared my thoughts on the Brown's 2012 draft and while there have been some nice surprises (WInn and Hughes have been great gets), other's not so much (Weeden and Schwartz).

IMO, if given the opportunity, I feel McCoy could be as good if not better than Weeden at this point.
