Cleveland Browns (2012 season)

Those of you who are on Twitter should jump on Mort's timeline ASAP.

Just tweeted Browns ownership will head back to Cleveland to re-boot the search without Chip Kelley

:so:

I wasn't crazy about Kelly anyway - the fact he's doing his NFL cocktease schtick again drained any enthusiasm I had left....

great....now who?

I wasn't thrilled about Kelly either, but at least he had some possible upside. These coordinators scare me, because they will most likely be a turd like we've had for years

I read that one of the reasons that Lovie was let go by Chicago was because of his problems with the offensive side of the ball and that is one of Cleveland's biggest problems so I don't see him coming to Cleveland.

I would not be totally shocked if they waited until after the BCS game tomorrow night and check on Nick if in fact Kelly is out of the picture. Those NFL guys know about as much as we do. I just think they throw crap up on twitter because they think they know something or want to think that they know something.

I understand that, but I don't see it as a problem. Go find an OC to run the type of offense that you want to run.

Good. Maybe now they'll get down to serious business and hire the defensive-minded coach with NFL credentials that they really need. That's the specialty of the most qualified candidates on the market, and is the quickest path to developing a true strength and identity for this team.

I think it's crazy the way Browns fans have seemed to turn their nose up at guys like Lovie Smith or Nick Saban. Smith has flaws but still won seven games or more in eight out of nine seasons in Chicago, went to eight wins or better in 6 of 9 seasons and double-digit wins in 4 of 9 seasons. Hell, even Nick Saban had a nine-win season in Miami. Going into last night there seemed to be some people who would drop down to their knees and blow Chip Kelly if he turned the Browns into a nine-win team, but they don't want the Browns to look at guys who have actually done it before.

The one thing I liked about the idea of Kelly was at least he was clearly their first choice. Even if I didn't think he was the right guy, part of me was interested in seeing the Browns get the coach or player they really wanted for once.
