Cleveland Browns (2012 season)

If you kindly go back two pages and check the availability of a one "Lovie Smith" and "Norv Turner" I think you'd have the answer.

Norv Turner. Really.

I guess, to be fair, you just said "proven" - you didn't say "proven winner" -though I'm not sure if 15 seasons and 8 games under .500 is a big wnough sample size.

Isn't a little early on a monday to be this drunk?

Well, yeah, but, we don't have a coach right now.

(Though perhaps the evaluations of Haslam's ego are such that it may not require one. Jerry Jones is a pussy!)

Look, I'd actually be at least "ok" with Lovie, don't get me wrong, but, personally, nothing says mediocre to me like "Norv Turner" - I'd rather have Schottenheimer back, at least he can lose in a conference Championship game.

(Now, none of this is to say I'd rather have Trestman than the "pie in the sky" names, but, I will say that there is some reason to think he'd be the best candidate they interviewd yet if they brought him in.)

I wouldn't laugh, actually. Dude knows what he's doing.

Bio from the Montreal Website.

And I can't beleive you guys, that are old enough, don't remember him from the first go 'round. I'd say if there's a knock on him that he's somewhat of a nomad, but, he's been in Montreal for 5 years now.

That's a helluva resume right there.

(Interesting to note that the coach he passed to move into 3rd place in Alouettes wins was Marv Levy, also a 2-time Grey Cup winner.)

Anyway, since you didn't go back and read. The idea was Lovie as a HC and Norv at OC.

Or does that sound so terrible??

Oh, wait, YOUR idea.... you're "for fuck's saking" me?

No, its not, its a great idea. Let's see if they can cobble that together.

I really can't take credit for the "idea". I'm giving the "FFS" because I've mentioned it before in the context of the conversation that has been going on for the past, 10 pages or so...

Then you come in, like an emotional bull in a china shop, metaphorically knocking over vases - messing with my crew  yadayadayada "I'm drunk".

What I'm saying is, start about 8 pages back: then move forward.

I love the idea of finding the next great coach. The problem is there is probably a 5% chance of that happening rather than going after a known commodity like Lovie Smith and trying to find the next great OC (or even a known good OC like Turner) to go with him.

Of course for all we know they already called Lovie as soon as he got canned and he isn't interested. This would be so much easier if clevelandbrowns.com could publish a list of coaching recruits with an idea of interest each way.

No Bull in a China shop. All I said is, don't overlook Trestman. You (and others) are the one freaking out. See, the difference between Trestman, and well, most of the other ideas is... well, they actually seem to want to talk to the guy. The Bears want to interview him too. Resume to Resume, I'd rather have him that BoB OButtchin, the Syracuse dude and he certainly has more NFL experience that Chip "I need my Nike Raise" Kelly.

I'm pretty sure the Lovie & Norv buddy comedy has been suggested by the fans of every franchise looking for coaches this year: I know it was discussed at great length on TwoBillsDrive. (TBD also had a brief "Trestman for HC" thread, but maybe the Montreal connection turned off the key Toronto Bills fans.)

Ehh, I wouldn't go that far. I agree with Buckeneye. We need a few more impact players, a great coach, and MAYBE we can talk about Wildcard.
