Cleveland Browns (2016 thread of unrelenting dumpster conflagration)

^^This^^

Never figured out why they let him go...

Because Johnny was the future and...and.... yeah.

edit: What I fully expect. Joe Thomas will be traded. We won't resign Schwartz barring a miracle. We'll have Oline problems but we'll take a highly overrated QB such as Cook or Lynch. Then we'll toss them behind suspect protection. Continue to fuck up the draft with our new found analytical genius in Operations. All the while enjoying the power struggle sure to come between him and our new GM.

Sounds about right?

Toss in a couple off-season embarrassing arrests, some mind-boggling last second loss and a meme-worthy moment for someone...now we're good.

Hoyer wasn't the future. It isn't like he was all that good for Houston this year. Johnny Las Vegas could have been the future (even though most of us knew he wasn't when they drafted him) and McCown was a better mentor. Now we'll blow a first round pick on another terrible QB and do this again in a couple years. If they want to impress me don't pick a QB in the first round. Worst thing that could happen IMO is the Titans don't draft Bosa and the Browns don't either.

Point being Hoyer was the superior QB and the better man for this team. We let him go in favor of a kid who hit rehab before being in the NFL a full year. Some Of us saw that then. Yet Johnny 'could have' been the future? There was never a chance of that.

Nobody is saying Hoyer was an elite QB but given a decent team around him we had at least an effective, functioning passing game in and offense that was fun to watch at one point until injuries cost us.

Instead of recognizing what we had, ownership decided to go with what they wanted.

A bird in the hand...

Chip Kelly is like the girl that turned you down once, maybe twice... Then you find out she's a whore and guess what? You're still enamored with her for some odd reason.

Not on Chip Kelly, but got to agree with the whore logic.

Even old whores that no longer look as good as they should still look hot to me.

Something about the memory of their hotness does the trick for me still.

It's like your mind can trick your dick into thinking her pussy is a time machine of sorts or something. Probably just Pussy using the jedi mind control trick and shit.

So just fucking around, but what would you do with this shitshow? Me, I cut Johnny Rehab and keep McCown and AD. Keep Thomas and have him ensure that Erving goes to Bentleys camp over the offseason to take over at center. Mack and Schwartz are gone. I put in a plan for Duke as my feature back with some work for the Crow. I use my sizable cap space to either take a run at Calvin Johnson () or bring in a RT. In the draft, Bosa will go 1, so I take whatever player is best at 2 either on defense or WR. I then use all my picks on defense or WR except for a QB like 12 gauge in the mid rounds, with the ability for him to sit and learn for 1-2 years. The only other offensive position I look at in the draft is tackle, but only a BPA.

I saw some stuff going back and forth on twitter, people were defending the power structure in Cleveland... I'm not sure if these or trolls or idiots.

What are the chances they strike out on their top candidates again because of the fucked up power structure and end up with another Pettine again? Shit wouldn't it be funny for Haslam to go crawling back to Pettine begging him to come back.

Look how many Browns fans were happy when they drafted Manziel. My vote is for idiots. This team is so toxic no good coach is going to touch them. I would have replaced Farmer and kept Pet for another year or two to see what he could do with (hopefully) more talent. The number of high draft picks that Farmer wasted is mind boggling. I'm wondering if there were any conditions i.e. replacing Schwartz that they gave Pet to keep his job and he told Jimmah to shove it up his ass. IMO the best move they could have made was to find a better GM and give Pet a couple more years to see what he could do. At least at that point they could say this guy sucked for 4 years before we canned him. You could bring in Kevin Colbert and Bill Belichick and this team would still suck for at least 3-4 years.
