Cutler was set to take a TV gig last year before his old OC suddenly needed a starter in south Florida and was willing to pay $10 million for it.

I don't think the impact in the aggregate will be all that significant, as I think Smith and Cousins are fairly similar from a production standpoint. But, one of the benefits of going with Smith, presumably, would be that he wouldn't come at as stiff a pricetag. Now, add in they gave up a good draft pick, one of the league's most versatile CBs and turned and handed a QB in his mid-30's a premium contract...woof.

Back when I could still remember the glory years under Art Monk and Darrell Green, it was painful (poor heath shuler is still loathed by many).

These days it is very freeing. It's been a long time since there was any real reason to keep up with the team, and this grants an extension on that lack of fanhood.

So many obviously terrible signings at the time:


The retirement home they ran for awhile, Deion, Smith, Carrier and Murrell

Jeff George (letting Brad Johnson walk to win a super bowl

----the above were from Dan's first year and the first team payroll in NFL history to exceed 100 million.

Naturally Snyder cannot help himself so he went on another shopping spree for garbage

Adam Archuleta, Brandon Lloyd, Antwaan Randle El, Christian Fauria and Andre Carter. Archuleta also led to them allowing Ryan grant to walk.

So Dan rethinks his strategy, instead of giving tons of contracts to future washouts, why not give all of his money to one Haynesworth?


I don't have another team, though I do enjoy cheering for the new Orleans Buckeyes.

Cleveland laughs at paying Cutler only $10M. Cleveland is the land of paying washed up bums who couldn’t get paid elsewhere and the home of the cap space to do something really really dumb.

Seems like Siemien and Lynch are living on borrowed time in Denver. Cousins is bound to go there, for sure. I actually believe that Denver is going to do what it takes to get him...

Actually, I believe that Denver is going to make Cleveland go full retard for Cousins, while Denver ends up with Rosen, somehow.

Assuming money is no object to sign Cousins I think the Browns would have to promise to use those first rounders on offensive weapons rather than a QB. They might also need to throw a bunch of money at another offensive player like Bell if he is a UFA to convince Cousins they are in it to win now. JT would have to come back with one of the second rounders going toward a replacement for him. IMO if you sign Cousins it will take at least a 4 year deal so I don't see the need to draft a QB at all this year. Stick with Kizer and maybe find another vet for depth. As much as most people would hate it I would be cool with trading down from #1 to fill out needs on offense assuming QB is no longer a need. I'd love to find a way to pull the best two WR's, a top OT, and a top RB in the first 2 rounds.

Don't worry no matter what move the Browns make it will be the wrong one.

I don’t see how any team (which for the Browns would be multiplied by like, a gazillion) could reasonably, with a straight face, try to convince someone with a single brain cell that they can go from 0-16 to “win now” in a single offseason before they’ve even drafted anyone. I mean, the Browns are the last team who has ever been “win now,” let alone with a lame duck bum for a head coach and having just gone 0-16. “Come on board, Kirk, we’re just a decent QB and a single fucked up draft after signing you away from winning now.
