Cleveland Browns (Finally drafting Buckeyes)

He wasn’t that bad and probably better than a lot of guys on a lot of rosters. Was he worth the hassle, I don’t know.
He had some good years, but when the incident was exposed, he was coming off a season where he average 3.1 ypc and just 5.5 ypr and was going on 28 years old, which for a 5'9/190 RB who had averaged 300 touches per year over six years in practically ancient. I'm sure most teams viewed him as a replacement-level back at that point. Hunt, meanwhile has just 1.5 years worth of mileage and was one of the league's top three or four backs.

Not excusing the clowns signing him, but there is a big gap between Rice/Hunt as far as expectations on the field going forward.

Right, which goes to what teams are willing to look past depending on the public fallout. Rice would have been serviceable on a team and again probably better than a decent chunk of backups. Obviously Hunt is more worth the potential shit storm.

Precisely. Teams will swallow a lot for production on the field. In Rice's case, not worth it for what was essentially a mediocre back at that point. Hunt is elite.

Still, though, in the Clowns case, you already have Chubb, a very good back; and Duke, a nice complimentary piece. You're presumably going to be more of a passing team with Baker, than a ball-control running offense. Do they really need to bring in another guy with THAT baggage?

Everybody runs the clowns/ravens down for firing Belichick. Fact is, he was a lousy coach at the time. The guy went 36-44 and made some stupid personnel moves. He became a great coach, but likely in large part because of what he learned from fucking up his first job.
