Cleveland Browns (Finally drafting Buckeyes)

NFL sources: Approximately a dozen teams have shown interest in JJ Watt since he became an immediate unrestricted free agent. Included among those teams are the #Steelers, #Browns, #Bills and #Titans.

I don't want him if his main goal is to get paid. I don't think his current production is worth what the Texans were supposed to pay him. I do think Watt is more likely to give you 100% on every play than a guy like Clowney, but I would want no part of him. If Watt wants to make a fair salary to lineup opposite Myles Garrett for a year or two and get a lot of single blocks we can talk.

Yeah, for sure... I think all the talk to the Steelers was.. uh... a problem, not just because they're gonna be 30 mill on the wrong side of the cap, I think there was some question where he fit there.

I mean, the real conversation I would think here is, how much of a situational guy is he at this point (and which situations?) and what is that worth, and how much is it worth to him to have Garrett on the field with him.... or... do you have Watt back up Garrett except obvious passing downs and what does that work load look like for both?

With Watt I think I would try for something with more incentives. Give him a base of 7-8 with some easier incentives to get him up to 10 and some harder incentives that would pay him 14-15 if he is the dominating force he once was.

Signing Watt and Harris would line up with how the Browns value DL and DB over LB's. That would limit the draft needs to LB, CB, and DT. A while back I saw a mock with them taking Togiai and Wade in the 3rd. If they could somehow pull that off it would be a huge win to fill in depth. I think Werner would be a nice to have at OLB for coverage and ability to spy a mobile QB especially if they could get the best LB and CB available in the 1st and 2nd rounds.

Watt would be cool, Von Miller would be great but just imagine if we had a DT with some type of juice. He would have so many opportunities inside with whoever is opposite of Garrett

Oddsmakers have the Browns as the clear favorite to get JJ Watt. Where there's smoke ...

Obviously you don't want to pay a guy for his past achievements when he is on the wrong side of 30 and has a significant injury history. Certainly there are some significant risks of overpaying to sign Watt. If the deal is something like $10M per season for two seasons, then that makes sense for the Browns.

In all honesty I wouldn't be surprised to see them draft BPA in the draft. They have greater needs at DB and LB, but if there is a DL or WR that they view as head and shoulders above the rests I think they'd pull the trigger and worry about filling the gaps later.
