Cleveland Browns (Finally drafting Buckeyes)

I remember acting badly in my younger days... when someone kicked me in the nuts

and then when he knows his big buddies have you wrapped up
the little pussy throws another fist to your nuts

those might tend to crank my chain too
Oh for fucks sake. 1. It's a still photograph. 2. This is halfway through the action of Garrett ripping the helmet off. So....Garrett went into hulk rage mode because he knew he was about to get kicked?

Obviously Garrett acted inappropriately and should be suspended. The real question is how many games should he be suspended. I do think the injury to the opponent should factor into the suspension - if all Rudolph has is a bruise, then that should be a shorter suspension than if he has a concussion or broken bones. There is not a ton of precedent involving punishment for inappropriate striking of opponents in the NFL. That being said, if Haynesworth got 5 games for stomping on a dude's head and making him get 32 stitches, there has to be some injury to Rudolph to merit a suspension of that length IMO. If Rudolph is not seriously hurt, I don't think the suspension should be more than 3-4 games.

Garrett got suspended, as he should have, but of course the NFL went over the top because "OMG, worst thing evah!" on social media.

Albert Haynesworth intentionally stomped on Andre Gurode's head - Gurode's helmet had been knocked off so he had no protection - and caused a gash requiring 30 stitches. His suspension was 5 games. Rudolph didn't even get injured, and unlike Gurode actually put himself in harm's way by going after Garrett and swinging at his nuts while not having a helmet, but somehow this is worse?

Yeah, okay.

Haynesworth was 2006 a lifetime ago in the NFL...

I'm old enough to remember when the Pats and Seahawks got in a fight in the end zone near the very end of the 2015 Super Bowl. What suspensions happened then? My point is fighting in the NFL is tolerated to an extent, and guys don't often get suspended. Obviously Garrett crossed the line, but the NFL still lets a lot of pushing, shoving and swinging go without any punishment in terms of missed games.

Lol. Who the fuck is applauding Pouncey? Steelers homers? What does that have to do with anything?

Here's how I know you're a homer. You compared Ogunjobi's action with a normal football play. He came from behind and shoved someone to the ground who didn't know he was there.....after that person had just gotten clocked in the head with his own helmet. Be real with yourself now.

A lot of people condoned his actions, saying he was justified. That was not justified...

When did I say Ogunjobi's play was a normal play? Every week someone in the NFL comes in and cheap shot or late hits someone. None are ever even tossed let alone suspended.

The fact you seem to think Rudolph is little Mr Innocent just shows you have a disdain for the Browns. Almost all Brown's fans universally agree Garrett was way out of line and deserved banned for the year. How is that being a homer? Wanting to see the guy who started it, tried to rip Garrets helmet off, kicked him in the nuts, and charged after him while he was backing up.... that's not being a homer. That's wanting equal treatment. He deserves punished too.

Can we really say this incident "detonated his career"? Perhaps it'll torpedo his reputation among some fans and media but I don't really think he's going to be any less of a dominant defensive player when he returns next season.

until he does something else and gets another long suspension

He's in the Burfict club now in terms of being watched and having zero rope. Also seems like he's in the Burfict club with his inability to stay sane or play clean on the field.

These guys don't have overly long careers. 6 game blocks here and there add up.

1. None of these other players who cheap shot someone else are doing it during a brawl.
2. I never said he was innocent, I said he didn't start it. He didn't, no matter how many times you guys say he did or come up with context lacking still frames that you claim show things that didn't really happen....he didn't start it. He responded to a guy hitting him late and forcing him to the ground unnecessarily even later. You guys say on one hand Garrett should get suspended, but he was only reacting to something done to him......but you don't afford that same defense to Rudolph. You honestly think he just decided out of nowhere to rip and push at Garrett's helmet? He was tackled like 89 times. The 89th is what broke the camel's back? Sure.

I know, I know.....he got in the face of the guy who just lifted him from the ground and ripped his head off. The nerve. How dare he.

Tell me.....what exactly do you think Baker would do if someone does that to him. Walk way and file a grievance with the league?

I got no disdain for the Browns. I have disdain for what fandom does to people. It's kind of sick what the brain will do to protect people's fandom.

Edit - And to be honest....I have a lot more disdain for the Steelers and their dirty shit than almost any other team. But shit....you guys want a suspension for actions that don't warrant one. At least the guy who said it's because he's a Squealer was being honest with himself.

I'm fine either way with Mason getting a game off or, in this case, him not getting one. Emotions will run high in 2 weeks and I doubt a young QB will just magically start seeing the field better when running a little hot.
In this scenario, it might be the best for the Browns. As we see how bad things get facing a QB with no starts under his belt. :smash:

Haynesworth is why I think Myles suspension MIGHT be reduced to 4-6 games. Simply because of the lack of injury in this case and idiocy from both sides.

I don’t think the hit was late. He couldn’t have seen the ball leave the QB’s hand as he got there almost simultaneously and his head was on the opposite side of the throwing arm. And he made sure he didn’t land on top of him, so it wasn’t roughing. I think Mason was frustrated and overreacted. Also, if Baker did what Mason did, the general reaction would be totally different. I’m not a Browns fan, surely not a Baker fan, and overall, I kind of hate the NFL. But Mason started that shit.

You're entitled to be wrong.

Edit - that should be read as a light hearted way of saying agree to disagree....not the way it probably sounds like I think I'm omnipotent or anything.

There wasn't a flag on the hit so it wasn't late. I can see Garrett getting it reduced to 6 since they can't give indefinite suspensions for on field events. Maybe 4 if they make a case out of the nut kick and say he called him the n word.
