I was just saying this to someone else. Considering the cap is going UP next year and free agency looking at shit like this. If this happens year after year (of course,I doubt to this degree) there's no way it will be good for basketball viewing. It's already so predictable as is. I'm not exactly what they can do about it with all the goofy free agent rules and ways to bend a cap though.

Lebron would have to take another pay cut to get DWade north and I doubt he's going to do that. Going to need a lockdown defender in Cleveland to appear on the perimeter very soon who hasnt already shown up.

What does everyone think about a guy like Biyombo on this team? I think he's kind of the "eraser" in the middle. I was impressed with TT's defense away from the basket in the playoffs and I think he could do some work as a true four, not a stretch four when Love is not in the game. You also have Lebron playing every position so how would having a guy like Biyombo in the middle improve the Cavs?

I like the defensive idea and guys wont have to crash on help defense as much from the perimeter. I would make him an offer and see what happens.

Technically you are correct.. and incorrect..
last time I checked you weren't allowed to carry a roster of 8 players
JR Smith, Richard Jefferson, James Jones and Felder might make it easier to play a game... and you'd probably have to pay them something...
and you still need 2 more players...
so let's play a math game.. and conservative one...

assume JR comes in at $9-$10M
Jefferson, Jones + 1 old FA = $4.7M (minimums)
1 new guy at exception of $3.5M
Felder = $550K
total an addl $18M

Needless to say, it's a much better situation to be in, financially, than Golden State. I think I read somewhere that they will be something like 10-12 mil over cap. How much will they end up owing in the luxury tax? Cleveland owes a stupid amount for being over the cap from last year. I can only imagine how ugly it could get for Golden State, especially if they don't get the favorable results they expect.

Cavs franchise value BEFORE NBA championship.. $1.1B .. I think this was Jan/Feb of this year

which is why LeBron does not care about the tax $600M increase in value

If GS can manage to have Curry, Thompson, Durant, and Green on the same roster, the Cavs can find a way to pull it off.

Whether Gilbert is willing to pay the premium in taxes, is the real question. I'm not so sure Gilbert wants to overspend coming off a Championship.
