Cleveland Indians (2013 Season)

Been years and years since I've watched that movie; going to Tribe games just makes it seem like the movie never ended.

Can we get a vBet on how low the attendance drops for '13? It went from 1.8M in '11 to barely over 1.6M in '12. I figure 1.2M to 1.3M in '13.

I know a number of season ticket holders who are joining my ticket partner and me: not renewing for '13. The apathy level among people I talk with has not been this high since the 80s.

Meanwhile, the Indians are pushing their Tribe Rewards program and have made not even the suggestion that they might think about getting any better players for '13. The rewards program? Well, that's a joke too. Here's their current hot item:

They started trying to pawn off a broken Zeke Carrera bat (I kid you not!) at 20,000 points nearly 2 weeks ago. They've dropped the starting bid to 15,000 and still can't find a sucker who would want it.

Even Major League didn't try anything this nutty...movie goers would have thought it unbelievable!

Assuming they ship out Choo, and probably Perez, they'll struggle to get to 1.4, IMO. This roster will be in the worst shape it's been in since the early 90s. No real stars, just a couple pretty good players and a bunch of role players.

They have to hope Chis and Kipnis come on big, and that Santana starts to live up to his advanced billing, or nobody is going to give two shits about this team.

Also have to hope that Cabrerra finally comes to Spring Training less than 20 pounds overweight for a change. Better yet, Cabrerra agrees to take his AL leading 19 errors and moves to 1B next year.

you are correct. I meant Labusta but there really isnt that much of a difference between him and Hafner

Well, one's a right handed batter, the other left. One does not own a glove and other makes little use of his. One used to be good; the other has never shown anything at ML level.

Biggest difference today:

One made $13M in 2012 and has club option for same amount for 2013 or a $2.75 buyout; the other made less than $500,000 in 2012 and is not eligible for arbitration until after 2013.

Francona can say this a few more times
-Francona said hiring the right pitching coach is critical to help starters Justin Masterson and Ubaldo Jimenez rebound from this season and take the pressure off young starters such as Corey Kluber, Zach McAllister, Carlos Carrasco and David Huff.
"The pitching coach has to be someone who we think can impact the staff," he said. "It's not necessary for him to have major league experience."
Francona said former Boston right-hander Curt Schilling is not a candidate, but that he was interested in doing some special assistant work with the baseball operations department.
Indians stink

In other words, Francona wants this guy (rabbit optional):
