2-0. The way this rotation has fallen off a cliff is awe inspiring. And it's getting too far along in the season to expect it will simply come around.

Sweep.the Astros, wanna bet they get swept by the Reds? Goats are standing by...

I expected Tomlin and Bauer to be garbage.

Can't expect to only have 3 starters who don't get lit up nearly every outing and win constantly though. They don't even have 3 considering Kluber was getting bombed before he went on the DL and Salazar has been a hot mess.

Them being 4 games over .500 is kind of remarkable considering Carrassco is the only starter with a ERA under 5 (not counting Clevinger since he has only thrown 17 1/3 innings) and the inconsistency of the offense.

Tomlin has never had particularly good stuff, you just have to hope he can get by on mixing speeds and location, neither of which he's doing this year. He's a glorified batting practice tosser. A 7+ ERA approaching June is Schrom-esque.

They can't keep trotting him out there much longer.

It's not like he's a young guy with potential whos just struggling. I suppose you could make that claim with Bauer, even though i'd say it's established he's an inconsistent mess. But Tomlin is 32 with low velocity and mediocre stuff, there is a point, which we are nearing where you have to just cut him loose.

Kluber has a strong enough track record that I feel confident he'll round in to form when he comes back. I'm optimistic about Clevinger as well. He's always had good stuff, and it looks like he's figured it out. I don't expect him to dominate like he has, but he could be a solid #3 behind Klubot and Cookie. Cookie's health is always a concern. Hopefully he avoids the injury bug this year. Salazar has been trash since the all Star break last year. He looks like he could benefit from a trip to C-bus to get his head straightened out, but I don't think they have that luxury. Bauer is what he is. He has great stuff, but a ten cent brain. He's always gonna be a guy that is capable of going out and dominating, but more times than not he's gonna be shit. I was never high on him at all.

Basically, if this team wants to get to, and make noise in October, they're gonna have to make a move to upgrade the rotation. Disappointing, because we expected the rotation to be a strength, and it's turned out to be our biggest weakness.

A move is going to be the only way pretty much, we don't really have anyone who might be worth a damn starter wise in the minors who's near MLB ready. Which also means indeed their hands are tied with Salazar and Bauer. They could drop Tomlin and plug in Clevinger but after that theyd either have to try winging it with one of the bums from AAA (whos rotation has been as bad as the Tribes this year) or make some trades.
