Cleveland Indians (2019 Thread of Indifference)

Stealing our gimmick. Sonsabitches.

First they stole our hope, now our goats. This aggression will not stand!

They’ve now freed up about $18 million for 2019. If, as management has stated this off-season, they are willing to operate at the same payroll number as last year, there could be some nice additions made still. A guy like AJ Pollock could be a huge boost to the OF. That still wouldn’t preclude them from dealing a pitcher to free up a little more money while adding pieces for both the present and future.

Wishful thinking but not very likely to happen. The money they’ve freed up will be used to cover existing player contracts and expected arbitration increases for the current roster. OF this year is going to come from Greg Allen plus the collection of AAAA and 4th outfielder types they’ve collected since July, plus the usual off season dumpster dive suspects that they’ll invite to Spring Training. And Zimmer and Niquil when they get healthy. Actually, except for Brantley most of ‘17 and all of ‘18, those are exactly the kind of OFs Tito has used since he got to Cleveland.

Rinse, repeat for the pen needs too.

As Zipper mentioned above do not expect the Indians to add any additional payroll for this coming season. In fact, they probably will be shedding more payroll with one of the big pitchers going. I sure wish they could get rid of Kippy.

Yup! Until they put a salary on in baseball, which will probably not happen in my lifetime,,there will be only a few teams that win the WS.

Since 2008, 8 different teams have won the WS and no team has won back to back. Just sayin......

Edit: And since 2008, 8 different teams have won the Super Bowl and 7 different teams have won the NBA.
