The hitting with runners in scoring position has been beyond brutal when theyve actually gotten them there. Its been a rarity in the last couple of games.
they can always hope for a wild pitch… worked earlier in the game… more than one way to score from third base once you get there other than a base hit but I think you know that:wink:
The entire lineup is a shitfest but to keep on switching guys in and out certainly does not help IMO

The Indians are hitting a robust .190/.282/.277 slash line as a team thru 11 games

the only team you could maybe call worse overall are the Pirates (they have a lower BA and OBP but higher SLG and OPS), who in a 162 game season would be probably on a crash course for one of the worst seasons ever with how theyve looked so far. The Indians have actually scored 6 less runs in 1 more game than them too

Should the Indians be glad the playoffs were expanded?
Ultimately, I do think the expanded playoffs are a good thing. Sure, it could mean an extra playoff round, but the benefit of knowing your odds are sky high is a plus in the end. If Tito can keep the team focused, it’ll allow them to take some chances and work things they may not have felt comfortable doing if they felt they had to win the division to make playoffs, like a potential change at closer or different outfield alignments and giving some young guys more playing time. All things that could earn big dividends in the end but if they fail may not be the season-enders they could have been under the original playoff format.

Of course, with the way the pitching has looked so far, we may be looking back at this and wishing the old rules were in place. If you’re a division winner, the expanded playoffs aren’t really a benefit. But as much as I love the Tribe’s chances, the Twins are a tough, tough team. The fallback of an expanded wild card round, as a fan, is pretty nice.
