DeShields Jr. is like the stereotypical Francona player - he can't hit, but he can field and steal a lot of bases, so he was bound to join Francona at some point
from what I have read do not be surprised if he gets traded. I know you can never have enough good CFs but two is one too many and Oscar does not play the corner OF positions very well plus it will mean more money for the 401(k)

I don't think the Indians should trade Lindor, as he is exactly the type of player you overpay to keep if you have to. I dont care if it takes a 10-year, $400 million contract, you do what you have to. There isn't a more obvious situation to write a blank check. Trading him now is a mistake, still can trade him a year to a year and a half from now even if they aren't offering him a competitive salary.

the longer you keep him the less you are going to get in return because teams know that the Indians cannot pay that type of money for one player so the other teams will just wait

There is mention of Clevinger also being in trade discussions, but I doubt there is any traction for a trade for him. The Indians have already traded two starting pitchers in the past 6 months, and have added none to replace them, so no chance Clev gets dealt without a kings ransom, including a starting pitcher, in return. No one is going to want him that bad to overpay. Their SP depth is thin already with Clev. Without him, it would be a rotation of Carrasco, Bieber, Civale, Plesac and Rodriguez.

Edit: plus, unlike Lindor and Kluber, Clev is on a pretty low salary. Cleveland has to keep a cheap star.

What are thoughts on when Frankie is dealt?
Smoke that it will happen soon with teams expected to submit their best offers this weekend.

In my mind the Dodgers can offer the best package.

question: why does Dolan want to own the team? Is he making big money? Why doesn’t he sell and pocket about 1b more then he bought it for.

I think the Indians will wait now and see if they are in contention for the Central come trade deadline this summer.
The reason Dolan still owns the team is probably because he is still making money off of it by straight out revenue or tax write off or maybe ego. Take your pick.

If he hits like he did last season, this is a very nice get
3. Cesar Hernandez: He is the player most linked to the Tribe in rumors, but I don’t think he’s rated far above others on this list. The 29-year-old Hernandez batted .279 (.741 OPS) with 14 HR and 71 RBI for the Philadelphia Phillies.
.741 OPS is not ideal. Signing him is much better than not adding anyone, but he seems to be the classic league-average player.

I guess if you compare his OPS to the one that Kipnis possessed over the past couple years you might get impressed. In addition to that at least he is batting above .250. I am not going to quibble over a second baseman that we signed for just one year to replace a very average second baseman who was getting paid around $12 million.

The Central division is not a given this year by any stretch unless the Indians install cameras.
But finances are working against the Indians. Their projected payroll of $90 million for 2020 is $44 million less than two years ago. The Twins projected payroll, with the addition of Donaldson, has jumped from $120 million in 2019 to $137 million in 2020. The White Sox have gone from $89 million in 2019 to $123 million.

Non shocking news, the Indians have spent the least in the AL central in free agency.

In fact, only 2 teams in the whole fucking league, Baltimore and Seattle, have spent lest.

The Dolans are a treasure.
