Clint Eastwood (you feel lucky?)

Ever ?
John Wayne
Jimmy Stewart

I'd stack anyone's resume against Good, Bad and the Ugly, Fistful of Dollars, For a Few More Dollars, High Plains Drifter, Hang em High, Outlaw Josey Wales, Kelly's Hero's, Any Which Way but Loose, Where Eagles Dare, Two Mules for Sister Sara, Dirty Harry series.

It's probably sacrilege but Clint's westerns are better than John Wayne's.

His "spagetti" westerns were just OK. He didn't direct them.
"Every Which Way..." sucks. "Death Pool" sucked. Clint has made some clunkers.
But, he has made some destined to be classics.
"Two Mules" "High Plains" "Josey Wales" (my fav)

Good, Bad and the Ugly was ok? Easily the best western ever made.

Every which way is hilarious it has a fracking beer drinking orangutan.

Better movie....."Good, Bad" or "Two Mules"? Get my point?

And "Every Which Way" DID suck, but the orangutan WAS the only high light. :tongue2:

I like both Two Mules and Good, Bad and the Ugly. Good, Bad and the Ugly is greatest Western ever made. The Spaghetti Western stuff he did redefined the western genre. Good, Bad and the Ugly is a top 25 best movie of the 20th century.

All of the no-name series
Escape From Alcatraz
Hang 'Em High
Unforgiven
Pale Rider

These can be watched anytime they're on.

I would vote for Eastwood because I know him better, however some of the old actors probably made more movies. Didn't Wayne make a couple hundred?
They were both the strong, hard type.

Ah-ah, I know what you're thinking, "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I've kind of lost track myself. But being this is a .44 Magnum ? the most powerful handgun in the world ? and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do ya, punk?

Let's not dismiss some of Eastwoods directorial efforts

White Hunter Black Heart
Unforgiven (which is just a heluva flick)
Million Dollar Baby (maybe overrated in my opinion)

I still haven't seen is Iwo Jima films, but I understand they are that good.

No disrespect to John Wayne, but I think Clint is far and away the superior actor in the Western genre.

Throw in his work as a director, and I think there's little argument.

I suppose it may be a generational thing, however. Also, considering that John Wayne was *way* more prolific (as has been mentioned) and I suppose some may argue for Duke.

"Mystic River" was another great one he directed, which really he did for most of his own movies after the Man with No Name trilogy.

"In the Line of Fire" is also an Eastwood classic.
