I'm not sure, I never tried to drive a car before. For someone that has used both, are there any similarities?

Hell, you gotta start somewhere. They both have 4 tires and a steering wheel.

You just have to make sure the muffler bearings are aligned correctly in the Gator or else it will vibrate you to hell.

Considering you haven't said it vibrated like the dickens, I'm assuming one of the coaches or groundskeepers took care of this.

Congrats Wes! If you have questions at the closing ... ask them. Don't blindly nod your head at the answers if you don't understand them. Ask someone to explain them in terms you can easily understand. This is NOT the time to let pride stand in the way of knowledge. Closings will not happen very often for the average buyer. Folks running the closing do them daily and because of this familiarity, they tend to 'breeze' thru the explaination.

Take a deep breath. There might be an issue or two of confusion, but the closing agent should be able to explain them for you.

Plan on your first drink shortly after closing!

i dont know the exact area where your condo is, but if it's where i'm thinking, it's a pretty nice place. make sure you walk over to the Elevator and enroll in their beer of the month club.

also, watch for some of the fine print in your contract. A lot of these condo associations operate under the general principle of anyting within your walls is your responsibility, and anything outside is theirs. however, should something stupid happen where a sewer line coming from your place should back up or break outside your walls, they still may consider it your responsibility. loopholes. my boss recently purchased a condo and had a similar incident.

Thanks everyone...it seems like the biggest thing today is just to take things slow and make sure I am in total agreement and understand everything. Shouldn't be too bad. I will make sure to give an update this afternoon. Unless lunch quickly turns into a liquid lunch, in which case I'll talk to you all tomorrow...

tsteele - I love the Elevator but I didn't know about the beer of the month thing, so I will check that out next time I am in there.

It's 8:40 AM and I'm ready for a beer...is that healthy?

I know it's likely too late now, but I'd just want to verify what type of a warranty and maintenance plan they have. Because these are brand new, I would almost guarantee that there will be warranties on all the bigger items (furnace, air conditioner, kitchen appliances, etc.), and likely they'll schedule a walk-through at six months and/or one year and fix or replace anything that may be damaged. If not, tell them they need to...:wink2:

(and that I'm getting away with robbery at this interest rate).

Wad - congrats on your purchase. IMO, you should be fine as I believe Columbus/Ohio has been relatively insulated from the housing bubble.

If you dont mind me asking, what type of mortgage did you get? (Eg - ARM, Fixed, Option ARM, IO, etc.) Its just that your comment about the rate made me wonder.

Thx

5-year ARM, with an extra .25% knocked off for opening a checking account with the same bank that is the lender...

Congratulations wadc45! Sounds like the only issues you may have to deal with down the line are

A - Too many BP'ers beating down your door - good liquor in hand :wink2:
B - The continuing work around you as they finish the place (hopefully very quickly).

As it is effectively a new place I would confirm the developers policy on handling anything found as a punch list. Do that before you close.
