Simeon Rice had better sit his bling-bling punk ass down and thank guys like Tillman for making possible the freedom needed to even have the opportunity to play a fucking game and get paid more money for it than 99.9% of real working Americans.
Amen, Mili, amen.

Here you have a guy that gave up everything to fight for his country becasue 9/11 touched him so much... on the other hand you have Eli Manning who is crying about possibly being drafted by the Chargers. Tillman represented all that was good in sports and more importantly in Americans.

those are great points Clarity. Reminds me of the scene in the Simpsons were Homer is talking about the kid "trapped" (it's really a prank by Bart) in a well:

Homer: That Timmy is a real hero!
Lisa: How do you mean, Dad?
Homer: Well, he fell down a well, and... he can't get out.
Lisa: How does that make him a hero?
Homer: Well, that's more than you did!

Clarity,

Great post and really noticed the comment about he, like the other soldiers, never considered himself a hero. If you have ever seen or read Band of Brothers there is a great quote from one of the WWII veterans. It is a story about a fellow soldier whose grandchild asked him if he was a hero. He said "No, but the men I served with were."

I commend all of them for willing to make the ultimate sacrifice, their lives for our freedom. Thank You!

PS Neither of the Tillman brothers ever sought an ounce of media coverage due to their decisions. I don't believe either one has ever conducted an interview as this was not some stunt they were pulling, just a call they were answering.

Good points Clarity. Pat Tillman is one of those kids that represent a dying breed - "real men".

As for Simeon Rice.....I'm sure he's glad enough that he has enough money in his bank account to pay for his next meal. Sometimes people cannot see the forest beyond the trees.
