DT Luke Fickell (HC Wisconsin Badgers)

I'm not really sure I agree with the critics of Fickell, wheter they be at the bar, on the radio, or in comments attached to articles.

We've got Boren playing at linebacker for [censored]s sake.

First year play caller, new staff all around the program, injuries everywhere, and most of the damage is coming on big plays (we've given up 30 this year already, compared to 37 all of last year) - to me - if teams were building long sustaining drives and putting up 400 yards we would have a bigger problem. Missed tackles and missed assignments give up big plays, not scheme or play calling.

I think the arm chair DC's need to take a chill pill, and give it some time. I know we live in a "here & now" fast-food culture, but Jesus H, give Fickell a little slack. He's a helluva recruiter, manned the ship last year, he's a Buckeye who played through a torn pec in the Rose Bowl, has coached some great linebackers at tOSU recently, and has studied under Heacock for years. I'm of the opinion he'll be fine with some time, and a knee-jerk reaction is not what's needed.

Having said all that, I'll "trust the coaches" and eat some cheese.

If changes in the staff are made it won't be because of bloggers writers or message board criticism. We all know it is up to Urban. I am sure everyone will chime in with their opinion after Saturdays game..thats what we do..its nothing personal to the coaches or the players ..I've never met them..we just want the Buckeyes to be the best they can be. Everybody has an opinion..some are plain stupid some well thought out, etc.

Seems the cover 4 scheme doesnt match talent. We seem to have guys thinking and not playing fast. I think this is the problem with poor execution and tackling. Maybe we should have used the KISS system this year instead of implementing a whole new system. Even going back to cover 3 might be better. If its simple it would seem easier for the youngsters to play and play fast which is what we need. I am sure Coach Meyer and the staff will adjust.

I would rather have growing pains of a new scheme this year than any time in the future.

While I somewhat agree, the last time I heard this argument was when people were debating whether we should keep Fickell as HC or find someone like Urban Meyer...

Unless the argument is Fick V Saban, then the argument is void.

Look, I'm not pleased with the D. I don't think anyone is. How fans make the leap of not liking the D's performance to Fick being the only one responsible is mind boggling to me.

D was great for most of ten seasons with Fick a part of it. D struggles, while replacing everyone but Fick...gotta be Fick's fault.

It's absurd.

If someone could please clear up something for me, does Luke Fickell's contract run just through this season or did it get extended three seasons (this being the first)?

Someone told me his contract was last season and this, but I thought that didn't make sense.
