DT Luke Fickell (HC Wisconsin Badgers)

Honestly? Pitt wouldn't be looking to bad.

But I think Luke is in this Buckeye thing for the long haul.

(I hope)

After thinking about it Pitt wouldn't be a bad job right now assuming they will pay him more than OSU. Ped State recruiting will be down for the next 4-5 years and he already has good recruiting connections in Ohio. He could probably get Pitt up with the recruits that MSU, et al have been pulling out of Ohio. Built up Pitt over 3-4 years and then move on.

The biggest question is how many years will Meyer be at OSU. IMO the best case scenario for Fickell would be to ride it out with Meyer until he is a few years away from hanging it up and then jumping to a HC job to get experience before taking over. If he went to Pitt now he would probably have to jump one more time before the OSU job opens up. Pitt will never be as favorable of a position as it is right now unless Ped State gets shut down and Pitt joins the B1G.

Luke is probably getting paid as much here as an assistant as he would if he took the HC at Kent State and I have to wonder what Snyder is currently making. I guess the only calling would be if you want to be an HC and I assume that would be attractive to some assistants.

I'm guessing Luke will have to wait for a BCS conference HC job to open up to at least equal what he is making at tOSU. Snyder might be an option.

I wonder how much Glen Mason makes at the BTN? The OU plan of hiring the guy who washed out at a big time program seems to have worked.

True, but the job has to be attractive to further boost his resume in a possible one year stop. KSU returns both Trayion Durham and Dri Archer next year so that run game has to be enticing for some defensive minded coaches.

Hazell was great for Kent to build the program and change the culture, but I don't think they should go after another coach that will only be there for a year or two. They need to try to find a guy that will stick around for at least 4-5 year to maintain what Hazell built. That's why I'd like to see them find a guy that won't jump like OU did with Solich.

"Play the best 11." Funny how easily I forget that. Certainly we match scheme to the opponent but you still play your best 11. BTW, that's why I think Bell gets significant PT because by the end of the year I fully expect him to be in the top 11 for his side if the ball. Coaches will find a spot for him.
