Greg Schiano (HC Rutgers Scarlet Knights)

I think I read that Strong burned a bridge with Urban when he went after one of his assistant coaches or a recruit

I've read that too on social media, but not from anyone/anything reliable.

that may be SERE but Schiano went from the Tampa Bucks to the Buckeyes lol so anythings possible. IMO Charlie while he didn't have the full support of Texas had every opportunity to convince them that he was the right guy for the job. His record is what got him fired and I don't see how he gets any big coaching job in the future. IMO, Charlie will need to prove himself all over again and thats too bad.

OhioState001- There's no way that's true as Urban goes after peoples coaches and recruits all the time and that'd hypocritical of him to do so. I'm not saying you're wrong but I just doubt thats the case.

Either way I was just throwing that name out there because Urban will know what he gets with Charlie, but if we really lose 2 or even 3 of the defensive staff the next Defensive Coordinator hire will need to be a splash. Knowing Urban and how this is Ohio State I have no doubt whoever is manning the DC spot next will be name brand that everyone knows.

Oh I have zero doubt that Urban will be giving Charlie a call if Schiano and/or Fick leave.

I'd be very cautious if I was Greg. I personally se no reason to jump the gun here. If I were a betting man I'd put my my money that next year has a greater probability of a NC. Of course, statistically it's probably not great odds since we are already one of four. Point is that I see no reason to reach. If there is a big turnover in the secondary and you help bring the heat with a second bunch next year......you will have even more choices and or better offers. And there is a chance that next year yields a ring if you don't get it this year. I'd only pull the trigger now if it was a really nice gig.

No offense bro but I don't see Charlie going from Texas to a DC position. A lot of people know how picky the boosters are at Texas and that they really weren't fond of his hiring from day 1. I would love to have him but I just don't see it being plausible. It's not like he's going to get better offers after a year as a DC again.
We got an NFL coach to do it....

GREG SCHIANO ON WHY YOU CAN'T TRUST EVERY HEAD COACHING VACANCY REPORT

When Oregon fired Mark Helfrich last week, Bruce Feldman of foxsports.com reported the Ducks were interested in filling the vacancy with Ohio State co-defensive coordinator Greg Schiano. A few days later, John Canzano of oregonlive.com reported UO brass interviewed Schiano while on the recruiting trail in New York.

When Oregon hired South Florida's Willie Taggart, Brett McMurphy of ESPN reported the Bulls were interested in Schiano as well, though they eventually hired former Texas coach Charlie Strong.

The former NFL frontman, given his venerable collegiate résumé and professional connections, would make for an intriguing hire by any program. But when you've been around as long as Schiano, you develop a rolodex of contacts, some of which may occasionally call to gauge interest in various opportunities.

According to Schiano, it's a process more informal than even some reporters realize. It would help explain the bevy of false reports seen during this time of year.

"I've made it a habit in my career to never talk about jobs other than the one I have unless I'm taking a different one," Schiano said Thursday when asked to comment about the reports linking him to head coaching jobs."
