OL George Fitzpatrick (Official Thread)

Cherry Creek High School is the oldest of seven high schools in the Cherry Creek School District in the Denver metropolitan area. It is located in Greenwood Village, Colorado, and is one of the largest high schools in the Denver metro area, with an 80-acre campus and more than 3,800 students.

Just sayin': The guy knows how to win. His high school will be going for their 3rd consecutive state championship (Class 5A) this fall.

As long as it’s just one or two projects to go with at least one or two immediate/higher ranked guys, I’ll trust the coaches (sort of).

That was my thought... if we can pull Tegra, Greene and Dewberry (that's who I have as tentatively in this class anyways), I think we are more than ok taking Fitz. Need a guy with a more true LT frame in this class imo, although I'm wondering how often that really checks out. Seems like we've had 6'4 type guys at LT with a 6'7 guy in the interior lately. In any event, I want Fitz in this class!

This may be the kid who pushes Wagner out of the class...
And from my understanding, height shouldn't matter for OTs as much as arm length. And that's where we're kind of all in the dark. Any of those guys who are in the 6'4 range can play OT as long as their arm length is long enough. But getting another project in Fitzpatrick, would be great as his size is different than our previous projects like Michalski, Leroux and Jones. Fitzpatrick would be a body type similar to NPF

Pnuts makes a good point about arm length being important more than height. Michael Jordan seemed way shorter than his data on 247 sports at 6’7”....he sure looked closer to 6’5” when he played. Also Jordan was the #22 OT in his class and I recall him doing a fine if not dominant job as a Buckeye at LT and he’s earning a living currently in the league.

Everyone wants that unicorn-freak LT and I agree. But they are just incredibly rare and you can win a lot of games with really good OTs as well.

Plus I contend that tOSU can always dip into the transfer portal as needed.

I’m just not in the sky-is-falling camp for OT recruiting like some people. Especially considering how good the interior prospects are that are on the roster and potentially coming in.

Fitz looks just fine to me thank you and it may not be accurate to completely call him a project......he’s a guy a lot of good teams want.

MJ was a 6’6” Guard. C’mon now! Everyone knows that!

I am kindof in the 'sky is falling' category. Having one tackle drafted in the first round since Orlando Pace is pretty ludicrous. The recruiting there needs to be better. I am not against Fitzpatrick per se, he seems like a solid prospect, but Stud needs to start to getting more Zach Rice's and less George Fitzpatrick's.

May not be first round but you are about to see several OTs go high in the next few years.
