With all the talent we have on our team we really should be better. I'm starting to get dissapointed in them
i think everyone is disappointed. mcclean himself has come out and said frustrated. what you see with all these rosters move dont happen normally. we should have 2-3 guys up and down for a week or 10 days one at a time and second up for injuries. throw in this team has missed well over 125 man games due to injury and its up hill sledding. nasher is back its a good thing, hes one of the best in the world and people are lucky to get to watch him night in and night out.

so basically yeah im disappointed to but its been a tough injury plagued season. we have a lot of guys on the ir and it looks we will for a time, but as good as kessel is (the for sure #1 next year, a forward with blinding speed-american none the less) i really dont want to be in his sweepstakes. though i wouldnt mind the next staal.

This pretty much sums up the feelings of most BJ fans. I just wish we wuld pull it toghther. And as far a Kessel goes someone else can have him. We're in need of more defense we score frequently but get scored on more. I don't remember the last time we were shutout.

heres a cool site that tracks the young kids, prospect mostly kids in developmental stages. i highly recommend just browsing it a little and you can get some info on some of the youngins and even some of the guys who are just breaking into the nhl like platt, piccard, brule etc. they just graduated pascal-making him our second homegrown talent zherdev (they didnt count nash or klesla because they came in and were nhl players.

jackets win 4-3 in ot on a balstik goal.
if you watch tv at all youll see zherdevs game tieing goal with 30 seconds left. it will be one of the best goals youll see this year. z beat all 6 hawks on the play.
zherdev and klesla had goals and helpers, hainsey two helpers, foote a shorty and balstik had the game winner.

I disagree. If you check the stats, we are BY FAR the worst scoring team in the league. The Jackets are averaging 2.00 goals per game. The next worst is Calgary at 2.46. If we had Nasher all season, we would be more respectable, but I know that he wouldn't alone turn us into a juggernaut like Ottawa (Ottawa has twice as many goals (146:73) in two fewer games) or even a middle-of-the-road scoring team. The average per team is a bit over 3 goals per game. I can see Nash putting us at 2.5 or maybe even towards 2.75, but I'm not sure he would give us an additional goal per game.

What I find curious about our offensive issues is that we have only been outshot 1003-1001 over the course of the season, but have been outscored by a whopping 131-73. I don't know if that is indicative of poor offensive schemes or just a lack of those skilled players who have the ability to put the puck in the net.

For comparison, on defense, we are allowing 3.59 goals per game, fourth worst in the league. We definitely need work here, but this is at least within shouting distance of the league average, which is probably about the same as the league's scoring average. In fact, I would bet that those numbers would be identical. Talk about coincidence, eh?

I don't know enough about the little things in hockey to be able to pinpoint the real problems with the team. It could be personnel, it could be scheme, it could be leadership, it could be chemistry, it could be injuries, it could be coaching, it could be any of various combination of all these things. I really have no clue where to look for answers. This team has more talent (it would seem) than the inaugaral season's team, but at this rate, they won't get close to matching the point total put up by that first team.

Wow I never knew the stats were that lop-sided. It doesn't seem that they would be that bad.

fwiw nash had 41 goals last season.
vyborny (his linemate nearly every shift and on the man power) had 22
only 3 other players hit double digits (malhotra, zherdev, letowski)

the thing that bothers me is why is nash skating with rupp and chimera? why put your best player with two goals who cant score on an empty net? i realize the mix it up and changeit up idea, but do you really expect the first line to be firing on all cylinders after only 4 games? i dont.

also to be noted.
zherdev played his best game of the season. he played two ways andd didnt a great job on the forecheck and the backcheck last night. i was impressed.

klesla also had his best game ive ever seen him play last night. physical two way play.

as far as whats wrong, i understand the game but on a middle level. i can tell you what is happening but not necessarily why its happening. (cause but not effect) i just started posting over at hfboards.com and its a good site.

2004 first round draft pick alexander picard has been taken off the ir and is expected to play this weekend with syracuse. he has missed a ton of time with a concussion and the resulting after effects. supposedly has suffered vertigo like effect.

berard may play jan 5th he is now eligble to come off the ir.

it has also been rumored that pascla was pulled two games ago from a groin injury. he went down hard and akwardly after deflecting a puck wide. he laid on the ice for a 15-20 seconds while the puck was in play. at this point its a rumor and who knows. columbus doesnt have the luxury of recalling an nhl caliber goaltender (prusek) without having to put him on waivers where he would be snatched up and the jackets would have to foot half his remaining nhl salary.

the jackets play the ducks tonight at nationwide. it will be the first game back in columbus for wright, beauchemin, and marchant.
