Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

Well, the Blue Jackets are in with a #9 seed. Are all of the injured players (Bjorkstrand, Atkinson, Jones, Kukan, Texier, Anderson, and Dubinsky) healthy now?

dubinsky definitely not. Anderson almost definitely not. Tex.....probably not. Everyone else should be up and running, I think.

Just gotta score 3 per game. Toronto is good for 2 per game easily.

With this long ass layoff, defensive teams have a HUGE advantage if they can put a couple in the net themselves plus Toronto essentially doesn't play defense, especially early in the year when they quit on Mike Babcock. They got a little better as the season progressed but that likely had more to do with effort than skill or scheme.

Looks like even better news, they are now saying that Anderson is a maybe and Texier is a yes...

Blue Jackets should have all hands on deck for return to play

Jones, Atkinson, Bjorkstrand among those who should be healthy for Columbus

When the Blue Jackets return to the ice to take on Toronto as part of the NHL's return to play plan, the team might be able to steal a line from Ohio State's fight song, "Across the Field."

Hail, hail, the gang's all here.

A team that made overcoming adversity -- mostly in the form of repeated injuries to both top players and role players alike -- its calling card this year should be largely at full strength in the five game series against the Maple Leafs when things get going again later this summer.

Cam Atkinson (ankle), Seth Jones (ankle), Oliver Bjorkstrand (ankle), Dean Kukan (knee), Alexandre Texier (back) and Nathan Gerbe (groin) -- all of whom were out of action when the team played its last game March 8 in Vancouver -- all should be ready to go by the restart, while Josh Anderson could return at some point as he continues to come back from shoulder surgery in early March that carried a four-to-six-month rehab timetable.

"I think there's a good chance that we'll be fully healthy," Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen said. "I think Josh Anderson is probably the only one where the timeline is going to get close to when he would be ready. Everyone else is on schedule and should be ready to play whenever we start."

Kekalainen went on to add that Brandon Dubinsky, who has not played a game this year because of a degenerative wrist injury, also will not be able to return, but by and large the Blue Jackets will have their strongest group on paper since the injuries starting piling up in mid-December.

I kind of thought Columbus would have been a good choice as they would be doing a "quarantined tournament" with the TBT just prior to the NHL. Columbus would have had the immediate actual first hand experience of what went well and what didn't; and adjust accordingly for hockey, etc.

Combining the reports, the final list of six includes Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton, Las Vegas, Chicago, and Los Angeles.

HERE'S THE FULL SCHEDULE FOR BLUE JACKETS VS. MAPLE LEAFS IN THE NHL'S 2020 QUALIFYING ROUND SERIES

4913_h.png

Are you ready to lock in some dates?

Here we go.

The NHL and NHLPA formally ratified the Return To Play agreement (and four-year CBA extension) on Friday night. With that came an official schedule for the 2020 qualifying round series.

The Blue Jackets will play their first three games in five days beginning Aug. 2. Should the series go beyond three games, the fourth game will be a back-to-back before a potential Game 5 on Aug. 9.

That's a lot of hockey viewing to welcome back the game, isn't it?

At least five games per day for nine straight days, with staggered start times in both hub cities: 12 p.m., 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. ET in Toronto, and 2 p.m., 6:30 p.m., and 10:30 p.m. ET in Edmonton.

Buckle up – this is going to be fun.
