Jackets killed it in the draft. I think they arguably had the best draft of any team.

THAT BEING SAID. GUDBRANSON FOR 4 YEARS AT 4 MILL PER YEAR WHAT THE FUUUUUUUUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU HOLY SHIT

Jackets got a 7th D who they’ll have to pay to get rid of in a couple years. He sucks at defense, sucks at offense and is 30. He got paid based on his career year with Calgary, and even if he repeats that season, the deal still fucking sucks.

This is the worst deal in the history of the Jackets organization. Only argument would be Nathan Horton, but that was due to injury. This is a fucking embarrassment and the league is literally laughing at Columbus. I thought it was 4 years for a total of 4 mill, and even then I thought the length was excessive. lol

Word is that the Jackets offered Johnny Gaudreau 7 years @ 12 mill/year.

They would have been better off not signing Gudbranson and offering Gaudreau 7 years/16 mill. I say this facetiously… but…

Oh just so we can shake our heads about the Gudbranson deal immediately. With the Gudbranson deal, if the Jackets were to sign Gaudreau, they’d have to trade Gudbranson (or like Voracek) in order to also afford Laine.

Such an incredibly stupid deal. I’ve seen people discussing his buyout already, what he could get in trade. Just lol, man. What the fuck.

It's a horrible deal no matter how you look at it, lol. A 30 year old D man who's barely been above replacement level most of his career. He has a NO TRADE CLAUSE too to 10 teams reportedly. They got pantsed on that deal.

Some are saying they signed him because him and Gaudreau are "clicked really well in Calgary" and it would help the CBJ case to land him. But Woof.

If that deal gets them Gaudreau, then I’ll be much less pissed off about it because Gaudreau + Laine should make up for it.
